Question on Russell seats

Just a thought, why not have a shoe maker add an inch to your motorcycle boots? Due to a crash when I was a teenager, they had to cut my thigh bone in order to put a rod in it so the bone would heal. As a result the bad leg was an inch shorter than the good one, in order to correct a bad limp, I just got my shoes and boots fixed by adding an inch to one. Might be a good idea for shorter riders with Day Long's. I love my Day Long, it has to be one of the best seats I've ever had.

I like the look of the Corbin better than my Russell on the FJR. The Corbin has better lines.
They all look identical when my *** is sitting on them. And that's pretty much all that matters (as far as looks) to me.
I agree with sentence one. But I still enjoying looking at a bike, car, woman and admiring lines. Including my FJR (after I take the Givi off).

flat footing a bike is over rated. you don't muscle a 600+ pound bike around anyway; finesse it and know the balance point. how comfortable a bike is at zero mph is irrelevant.
+1

I have the same problem, but I don't think of it as a problem. Had my Russel seat for 6 months now. I didn't pay much attention until I rode two up and relized my feet were flat on the payment.

I really don't think the FJR is all that sexy looking. I know, blasphemy!!

With the side bags on it has a severe case of ghetto booty. With them off the pipes look weird and gangly.

It only looks good (to me) because it performs its job so well.

If I wanted to sit around ogle a bike it would probably be something more like

Even my VFR is more attractive to me than the FJR.

Less functional, perhaps, but more attractive. OTOH "beauty" is probably the most subjective of subjects possible. ;)

I removed the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the seat pan as someone suggested earlier. It gave me enough difference to be comfortable at a stop, not flat footed but very comfortable. I tried sliding forward and standing up at stops but I was never in that habit in over 35 years of riding so starting it now would not be easy although it does work. LOL. The seat just gets better and better

I can no longer put both feet flat on the ground.
I bought a recycled Day Long (third owner) and finally put it on last week. The Day Long is the half-moon design in vinyl. I was able to put it on with my Smuggler which was a concern. In fact, it was a little easier to get on with a Smuggler than my Bill Mayer. I did immediately note that it was higher than the Bill Mayer and harder to reach the pavement and the bike seemed to handle funny with me higher. Anyway, I still left on the America's 9/11 Ride last week. I went 850 miles in three days which may not sound like much but, with a thousand bikes escorted by police, we averaged about 35 MPH so I was on the bike about 24 hours. (As an aside, it was great going to all three 9/11 sites but the crowds in the rural towns between Somerset and the Pentagon made us all feel like rock stars.)

My assessment of my recycled Day Long:

Within about 2 hours, I was used to the feeling of the handling and was used to the extra height (I had to make a similar adjustment to the height when I went from the stock brick to the Bill Mayer - just slide forward a bit when you stop).

Even though it is not yet broken into my butt, it felt much better than my Bill Mayer.

However, a day after the three day ride, where was not able to put the Anti-Monkey Butt (i.e., outside the panty lines), my legs got itchy with swollen red welts (which happened with the Bill Mayer at EOM after three days including inside the panty lines since I did not use the AMB powder). But, at least I did not have the pain I had with the Bill Mayer.

My measurements: Inseam 33" with seat in high position. I cannot flat foot it but have gotten used to it. I could not imagine it if my legs were 4" shorter!!

It's just natural selection. Short people should stick to girl bikes.
I don't know you and I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt - that you're being a little tongue-in-cheek here.

Which is why I say :****: with that big smile on my face (not really but ...well... you get the gist ;) )

John,

Skip the monkey butt power and invest another $45 in a pair of LD Comfort shorts. I know it seems like a lot of money for an undergarment, but believe me, the Russell and LD Comforts are made for each other. Problem solved!

I clicked your link and, sure enough, $45 dollar underwear. Well, I guess I can afford $45 underwear to go with my $90 service manual, $300 Russell seat, $500 Smuggler, $600 top case and $13K bike. I will trust you and give one pair a try.
