Can you all stop posting for a couple days? I finally got the engine out of the bike, and keeping up with the posts is starting to distract me.

Thanks for your cooperation. :)

ps- No issues getting it out. So far so good. Not too shabby for my first time.

Does agreeing not to post count as a post?

OK, I'll get right on that. Right after just 1 more about the correct oil to use, oh and tires,....

Do something to piss off the admins. That will take care of your problem for awhile. ;)

Scott,

So that's what the engine looks like. Someone beat me to the fact it looks so clean. Hard to believe there could be anything wrong with it. I really admire your courage to tackle such a project!!! Now getting it back together would be where I would be in trouble!!

Good luck, hope all the parts come together in time for NAFO.

What's the story on the engine pull? Ticker? Turbo Mod? Just want to see what's inside? :D

I know you love your dog and all, but that engine photo might just need to be your new avatar.

Good job, Scott. Perhaps you'll be an inspiration to other members here that wouldn't otherwise have the courage to tackle such a task. Either that or you're going to totally phuck up the install and we'll all get to point and laugh. Either way, we like you.

Scott, I know you're busy, so here ya go:

Desperation leads to innovation. That about sums up why this is apart in my garage. I do get to go out and buy some really cool tools that I'll likely only need once (well twice), so that's a plus, right? :)

Pony,

Looks like your doing one hell of a job! Are you going to do the transmission yourself or bring it in? (I am sure you already posted this but, I missed it.) What will the dealer charge for the repair if you bring them the engine/transmission?

Nope, I'm this deep into it, I'm going all the way. So far, the only ***** about it is, I get to a point where I don't have the right tool, I have to go get a new tool. At $4.35/gal, that's getting expensive too.

But, things are going well. Got the middle drive shaft out last night, plan on splitting the cases today.

Dealer wanted $2700+ to do everything, and he said that would likely go up "depending on what they found." If I brought them the engine, he still wanted $1800.

Right now, I'm guessing it's gonna cost me $550 for parts, tools and gas.
