Back in 2003 Warchild posted a DIY rad guard consisting of 2 metal bucket grids (metal mesh paint filters), cut to size and screwed together and then tie tagged on. Mine have been on since 2003 and 95,000 km with no problems.

Cox Racing Group radguard is perhaps on the thin side, but has held up well and so far so good. Fins still in very good shape.<<<snip
Gunny. I also have the Cox Racing guard, fits great no issues, I bought it on ebay.
I need a Fenda Extenda. :dribble:

Both are great semi-cheap farkles.
Uhm...er...you guys realize the OP is in Australia and that import duties, taxes and shipping might be exhorbitant if he purchases stateside?
Suggestions are just that. I would assume that the OP would be able to figure out what he can afford by himself.

I recommend the Beowulf guard. It doesn't look like chicken wire. I think there were some that mentioned that there might be more of an issue with stamped steel guards blocking airflow and not cooling as well but that has never been an issue that I can tell. Definitely not in WA where I live now but it never was in CA either.

Thanks for the tip...I went to Home Depot this morning, picked up two for a total of $4.50, cut the ears off and overlapped them in the center as you can see, pulled the lowers off and an hour later... :yahoo:

BTW...exactly 15" in length is what you need. just cut the ears off.
