Gang,

Looking fo input on getting a Jaz or RCI fuel cell. I want to pull rear seat and mount there. Really looking for feedback on easy of installing, removing and overall cost. I'm on a tight budget but need the cell.

Thanks,

Dave

I also found these pictures from Linda's website:

I have an extra rear seat pan, but I am concerned that the plastic seat pan might not be up to the task of bearing the weight of the fuel cell. Also, I wonder if the cell would ride high enough on a seat pan to allow for efficient fuel transfer. If it did work, I think this is the slickest looking set up I have seen so far. I think it was on a ST, but I know it wasn't on an FJR.

You'll want to check with Warchild before you go this route. IIRC this won't past muster for the IBA rules on cells, it's not strong enough.

Correct, we do not allow this, as the mounting scheme is not secure enough; it allows the cell to have excessive movement.

Since Iron Maiden ran one in the '07 IBR, I have to assume it is. Make sure you get the one with the foam in it, since it isn't offered with baffles. Keep in mind I have no experience with what is, or is not approved, other than what I have read hear. Warchild is THE OFFICIAL person to ask.

mjac, Where did you find the tank cover ?
Robert,

Trigger has it identified it correctly. It is a cheesy soft sided insulated cooler bag my wife won in an office give-a-way. I have no idea where it came from. She was more than willing to donate it to the cause when she discovered it leaked. <_< I cut the carry straps and handles off.

It has held up for a couple of thousand miles with no ill effects. When it dies I plan to replace it with a much more robust bag I found at a Target store. Its the right size, a dark green almost black color, has better zippers and made by Eddie Bauer. Cost here is about 25.00 bucks.

Mike

Thanks Mike . . .I'm just looking for a cheap way to go while I decide if I'll keep this setup or not.

Well I pulled the trigger on the new tank. I purchased from JEGS the 15378. It looks nice now I'm working on mounting plate and parts to install. If anyone has already done this install anywords of wisdom would be great and a parts list of things I need.

I just got done with the NM LOE and haven't really done anything since the purchase of the tank. This is going to be a winter project for me.
