Ok, I have searched google and this forum. I can't seem to find this information. I know the top steering bolt is 36mm, which I found on https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/4295-03-05-bin-o-facts-generation-i/.

The bolt that I am trying to remove is on the rear swingarm and I am trying to install a Pyramid Hugger. The Hugger's left side bracket bolts directly to the swingarm bolt.

See pictures below of the bolt and socket size that I am looking for. The largest socket I have is a 26mm and its too small. Is it a 28, 30, 32mm?

Any assistance would be appreciated. If this information is somewhere else on the forum, the please redirect me there.

Yessir. Per the instructions that came with the hugger it says you install it right on that bolt. I will post pictures once I get it installed.

I wasn't sure what the bolt was called, so I assumed.

also a 1-1/16" Socket works fine.
Yep. Also what you have circled is NOT the swing arm bolt. What you indicate is the "nut, self-locking" that screws onto the "axle, wheel". Are you sure you're looking at the correct fastener?

I doubt very much that the Hugger mounts to the rear axle. It could mount to the swing arm, yes but not to the rear axle.

The ebay ad also says "Designed for the Yamaha FJR1300 all model years, this cool rear hugger mounts off the swingarm and chain guard."

Kewl beans! "Swing arm" now means "axle" even tho it doesn't seem to come anywhere near the axle. And "chain guard' now means.....er.....um.....what.

Can't wait for dem installation pics, should be enlightening!

The hugger I had on did mount to the rear axle with a mounting bracket on one side.

On the other side of the swing arm it had another bracket that mounted to a clamping nut for the brake tension arm. (a poor design)

The bracket on the RHS could twist having only 1 mounting point.

It allowed the RHS of the hugger to twist and to rub / wear down on the tyre.

I made that bracket longer, now with 2 mounting holes, the second mounting position using the clamp for the brake line.

I just have to reshape the rear of the hugger, cut out the damage.

I am running into the same exact issue. Any chance you could snap a picture of your hugger on the right side?

Also how did you go about making the bracket longer and where did you place a second mounting position?

On ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-FJR1300-Rear-Hugger-Fender-Gloss-Black-Keep-Mud-Out-and-bike-cleaner-/140902712229

They verified that it was a Pyramid Plastic hugger. (and upon receiving, it definitely is)

training pilotwhere did you get your Hugger?
That's pretty pricey, I got mine here, the place you got it from marks up the price, they also sell the MV Motorrad riser for $60.00 more than buying direct from the factory.

Yeah, I see its a bit cheaper where you got it, but I hate ordering stuff from Europe if I don't have to.
