Does anyone have good pictures and info on installing the euro rear wheel hugger????

I sold the one I picked up and my buddy doesn't have a computer to ask.

A guy from Europe translated it to me months ago,but I lost the install instructions. Someone else told me to use a stud and a double nut on where it attaches to one of the acorn nuts?? What have you guys used for that acorn nut spot????I would think that if I used the acorn nut, it would break the fiberglass hugger......

The right rear side looks weird, how does it attach????

Thanks all...

ZZZZZZ

Here's what I did.

For the acorn nut, I bought a regular nut and cut it in half to slim it down. I used that nut as the actual fastener and used the acorn nut to hold the the hugger using just enough tention to grab it. I used some blue locktite on the acorn to keep it from backing off.

On the right hand side, I enlarged the mounting holes enough to accept a washer and used two slightly larger washers to sandwich the wahser/fiberglass mount. That way when its torqued down, all the pressure is on the washer and the fiberglass is captured securely without having to worry about cracking it.

I did end up using a velcro strap around the swingarm near the acorn nut because with everything tightened down the fender wanted to point off to one side. With the strap it lines right back up. I could have probably gotten around that by changeing the thickness of my fabricated nut, but I had only bought one and the velcro doesn't look too bad.

At the time I was expecting the brake lines to come in any day so i was fine with leaving it like that for a few days. That turned into a couple more months and it has worked out realy well. I was planning on doing the brake line install this weekend. I can take some pictures of the hugger because it has to come off for some touch up work because of the way I routed the stock brake line.

I know everyone wants to see pictures, but anyone who does have a hugger installed, please mail me a picture to me directly,(Plus easier).

My buddy, w/o a computer ,would like me to print them up so he can do the install the easier method, follow the pictures.....

ZZZZZ

OOhhh, you wanted the EASY method. That was NOT my method. My method was the forget it once installed method.

Ramblin-

Did you do the undertail and the hugger? Where did you get them? I have tried contacting (via e-mail) a couple of the European retailers, but have not gotten any response.

Sherpagirl-

I found this site, and sent an e-mail, but never heard anything back.

They are in Italy, so maybe its a language barrier thing.

There was another site too, I just can't find it now. I think it was a French place, and again, I e-mailed and got no response.

{EDIT}

Here is the other site (they are actually in Belgium and the Netherlands)

I did the hugger and made my own undertail by buying bobbing and painting a stock fender. The hugger and undertail from the group buy were from topline.

here is a picture of the undertail I made

and this is a picture (a bad picture) of the hugger and my undertail mounted.

I talked to a UK outfit that does not have the FJR undertail and hugger, but they do carry TopLine products. They put me in touch with their wholesaler, and I am waiting to hear back from them about a US outlet, or if they can sell directly to the public or know someone who can.

Time marches on!

Hey Ramblin Man,

That tailhugger looks really sharp! Just something else to add to the list of future farkles, I guess. I looked through the rest of your pics there. What did you have going on with the vacuum hose? That's probably not what it was, but what it looked like.

Kudos on the hugger Ramblin, looks factory. In your photo album, what are the sidedrafts for? I have a dual 44 PHH Mikuni set up I intend to put on my Ram 50 probably over the winter.

Side drafts are going on a 78 BMW 320i. I'm sort of into Euro/Nordic sport sedans for some odd reason. Except for Mecedes Bling. They just don't appeal to me.

The vacuum thing is exactly that, a vacuum nozzle hooked to a piece of washer drain hose which is then hooked to a crevice tool. I was experimenting with a way to get more air under the tank. But of course more air under the tank means more air coming from under the tank which means more hot air on the rider. So while it is doing what it was designed to do, whats missing is an exit route.
