Went to visit her today in the repair shop. sad to see her minus the plastic and with only 1/2 an engine.

Service manager told me that the valve guides were pretty worn, so initial "tick" diagnosis was correct - as I knew it would be.

I'll be getting the new valve guides and seals from the '06 model :yahoo:

Can't wait - I'm missing seeing her in her parking space :(

The Red Gurl may be down, but not out..

She got you to Reno and home with no problem.

And, quite frankly, was the best looking bike in the whole arena. :D

good luck - now have 32k miles on my '05 ticker that was repaired at 18k miles.

Am very pleased to report it runs MUCH stronger than it did at the original 14k mile mark.

Bike just jumps and motor is very crisp now..

Is it the valve stems or the guides that caused the ticking issues? I've heard the valves are different in what metals were used on the 06 vs. the pre 06 models. Anyone know the scoop? And congrats on that beautiful red beast getting fixed up. Who could miss that at WFO5? Ride safe, PM. <>< :clapping:

Great Roger! It sounds like your work is going along much quicker than mine did. My engine head spent over 3 weeks sitting at the machine shop before they got around to it. If you are suffering from motorcycling withdrawals call me and we can go for a day ride. You can ride my Triumph. :)
