Good post, Adam. Not really set any goals for 2014, because after all these years on the planet I've gotten pretty good at living my life according to my own day-to-day established full-life philosophy; though I do think I may try to eat more vegetables even though I hate them so much.

Three goals for 2014:

1) Completing an SS1000

2) Riding to at least one of the "four corners"

3) Learning friggin' BaseCamp.

1. execute and complete new job search and relocation of FJR launching point to upstate SC

2. execute phase two of 30th wedding anniversary celebration - beach edition

3. initiate journey to find and ride all the good roads between NE Georgia and Maine.

Your new launch point is my neck of the woods. Let me know when you get here.

You bet.
I will probably post some area FJR get together so I can meet my new mechanically minded buddy 'ol pals.

Accomplished in 2013:

- got remarried to the best gal in the world

- got my first (used) FJR and was "bitten by the bug"

- bought first new motorcycle since 1984.

- rode in winter (below 65 F, for that matter) for the first time, extending my riding season to almost year-around

Goals for 2014 (or maybe 2015):

- finish farkling my '14ES

- retire and move to NC (or other southern state) to increase riding season to full year with local curvy mountain roads

To slog through life, as usual, for one more year.

Last year's goal? See above. ;)

1. Finish upgrades to current, way-too-small homestead.

2. Sell item listed above.

3. Buy much bigger home with lots more room for outdoor hobbies.

The biggest decision I have to make in 2014 is whether to keep my current job or try to find something in a nicer part of the country.

I already know how to say y'all and all y'all from my Okie days, so I got me a head start.

And I'm not above calling people "them Yankee *******s!"...so hopefully that will work on my side.

However, my teeth need a little yellowing, I'm rusty on my tobacco spitting, and my banjo needs some work...otherwise I'm good.

Ahhhh...good ole stereotypes. Whats not to love? LOL!

I was born / raised in Michigan, but my father is from Bessemer, AL and my Grandmother is from Sparta, TN so I'm a mixed breed.

All I know from living both in the north & in the south is that living in the north during the winter is for sociopaths only and you could not PAY ME to ever move back up there.

Hey, I was being serious. My banjo DOES need work!

Recently found out one branch of the family tree comes from 'Ol Virginia and was a doctor during the civil war...so he must have been good with a limb saw.

Seriously though, I was born in Kali and raised in the Midwest...so I'm in a heap of trouble. But I don't mind acclimatin' to the shorter winters and awesome roads. Heck, right now I have to travel about 175 miles just to get to an hours worth of curves.

But I'll just shut my blueberry pie hole now, this thread is obviously more than about people moving...it's about looking back and looking forward.

I've lived a wonderful life. My original bucket list is all checked off. The problem is that I keep adding stuff to it. The new items I pretty much check off immediately. :)

Looking at 2014? Those EOM trips have made me fall in love with road trips on my FJR. I'm looking forward to doing many more of those this year.

I think I'll make a list of all the really good people that I've met over the years around the country and pay them a visit. I'll sit on their porch for a few hours and catch up. Then, off to the next one.

It'll be like my childhood dream of being a cowboy wandering the Wild West on my horse. Except, my horse can cruise nicely at 120mph. :))
