Hi all:

If I want to replace my mirrors with FZ1 mirrors, do I have to remove the base that the OEM mirrors sit on?

If so, can anyone point me to directions on how to go about doing that?

Cheers,

Steve

You have to remove the black plastic so you can get to the 2 nuts that hold the entire mirror assembly. Then the FZ1 go in the same holes in the fairing. If you need more info just PM me.

Yup, it's EASY. Just remove all the black panels (A-D) and take the two nuts off the back of each one of the mirrors. The mirrors don't have a base externally, just a rubber pad. The mirrors are super easy to change out. Hardest part is removing the black panels.

Hi all:

Just wanted to give a status update.

I had cracked my left side mirror and I decided to replace the mirrors with the FZ1 mirors.

I got a good deal on a pair (2004) on ebay.

As borrec and FJRocket mentioned, the hardest part is removing panels A, B, C, and D. Thanks for the help.

On the 2006+ models, the bulb adjustments knobs and nuts must also be removed so that the panels come off.

And the mirrors are a perfect fit. The stems are a bit shorter than stock but they tighten up nicely.

They fold up better than the stock and my cover fits better.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Ride safe. Be well.

Steve

YFI I am in need of a left 06 mirror..perfect if anyone has one , PM me

Thanks Cary

Just as an additional FYI, the headlight adjustment knob has a very small philips set screw, so rotate the knob until the hole shows up. Then just remove the big nut. The panel is tricky to remove, but basically you need to dislodge it from the channel on the painted panels, so pull down and to the right; it'll come off.

And DO NOT REMOVE THE 12MM ACORN NUT UNDER THE MIRROR ITSELF. Later gang.
