Repairing Givi Top Case

I have a Givi V46 top case I bought used. It's in fine condition except for the lower pushbutton which releases the case from the bike.

The lock has no effect on this button. The plastic tab on the top of the button mechanism is gone -- sheared off. Anyone can grab the case off the bike.

Is there a better way of locking the case to the bike? I can install a new, lockable button but it's awfully flimsy and apparently easily broken if someone wants the case.

If you don't remove the case often and don't mind the hassle when you do, you could drill a hole in the bottom of the case and bolt it to the rack underneath.
