I found a great tutorial, and it does look pretty easy, when compared to the CCT. Thanks for all the great advice. I will probably spring for a full upgrade next year as I would like a little more, kinda miss my R1 suspension. The FJR is a much better fit for me now.
Got a link for the tutorial?

And is this even possible without a bike lift?
never mind -- bad info erased  Should have paid more attention to the thread title !

You do not need a tutorial, the one from FJR Tech I believe is great, right up to the point that he puts on an aftermarket shock. The removal process is the same. There is no lift needed and the only thing extra is a block of wood and a jack so that you can lift the swing arm a tiny bit to take some preasure off of the top bolt. It was pretty standard.

I finally rode to work today for the first time this year!!! :yahoo: .........more to the point........I installed an '05 very low Km shock I received from Fossilrider (thank you) and what a difference!!! feels like a totally different bike, and much more stable all around. Well worth it.

Mine feels a little twitchy, so I need to get in there and make some adjustments. otherwise, Im so happy.

Hi guyz, after changing the shock on my bike to a Ohlins and clocking up 64K, km (50'000+ Miles)with it, anything to upgrade the standard shock on an older model FJR has to be recomended. To Todd, if you managed to get on this site (kauri cafe), your shock at 60'000 could be due for a bit of TLC, or an upgrade...especially if no adjustment releaves the wallowing in the back. All the best
