I have been a satisfied customer of Firstgear HT overpants for about 3 years now. I find them to be comfortable, breathable, and they appear to offer the protection I would need in an unscheduled get-off. They *used* to be pretty much water proof, owing to their "Sheltex" membrane, I believe. However, I recently rode with them in the rain and found that they are not as water resistant as they used to be, especially in that oh-so-embarrassing area for leakage (crotch) . I realize that they are getting older, but in every other respect they are holding up great. Has anyone ever tried (successfully) to restore the water resistance to high-tech fabrics such as these? I am thinking Scotch Guard or something, or would the right washing procedure re-align the fibers (and the stars and planets) so that dryness is restored.
