Hey FJRay - is it true that 97 has had its speed limits increased? I read somewhere that several highways in Oregon have been added to the list of 1,000,000 other highways in the country that have speed limits set above a snail's pace of 55 mph. Could you confirm or deny?
YES, the speed limit on a lot of Oregon hiways has been bumped to 65 MPH. On 97 going to Bend if I'm not running 75 I'm holding up traffic.:) :) :)

Ray, sorry about your luck but we have a small hurd coming out of the Seattle area. Best keep you ear plugs handy.

My friend planned a last minute wedding for this weekend in Seattle, sadly I'll have to back out.
weddings and funerals are both the end of a perfectly situation.

Bring them along and I'll perform the vows here. Good for the duration of the rally.

He hasn't denied my vac request yet... but he's stated how much he wants me at work. Should I just retire early, unannounced?

It's only about a month away. Make sure you get a room before the end of the month because that's when the block is closed.

Isn't it your turn to lead a CB ride this time sir?
Sure, if you like late starts, lots of stopping, dipping toes into creeks and lakes, eating ice cream sundaes, riding slow....

I went up to see the eclipse this weekend--it was GREAT. We left this morning a little after 10 in heavy smoke, and it was smoky all day long. Traffic got heavy by the time we got to Sisters, OR, maybe 40 miles NW of Bend. Crawled past La Pine, had lunch at the Harvest Depot, and then crawled the 35 miles from there to Chemult on 97 in--I kid you not--about three hours! Total time, La Pine to Sac: 14.5 hours.

The eclipse was spectacular, but I could have used the FJR this afternoon. It'll be a pleasure to ride 97 next month in "normal" traffic! And maybe some of the forest fires will be out by then, too.
