Dan,

It is looking like I will have to bail out on the Sunday ride.

I just got a call from my brother and my Mother has dislocated her hip again (twice) and is in the hospital up in Portland (Maine Med). She had a joint replacement done about 20 years ago and now the plastic socket is shot. This makes about 6 times that the joint has popped out while she is waiting for some clowns to make a new replacement prosthetic socket. This time it happened just standing still at home, and then in the car ride home from having it relocated. So now they are keeping her in the hospital. She is understandably very frustrated.

So, I'm not exactly sure how this is going to work out right now, but I imagine that I will need to head up that way on Sunday. I'll have to catch you guys on the next sunny weekend... :(

Best wishes for your mom.

Thanks DC. Update on my Mom: she had to go into the OR this time to get the hip relocated as they couldn't do it the regular way (in the ER) and now she can't get out of bed till they get her hip fixed for good. This could be really rough from here on... <_<

I wish her, and you, well, Fred. Changed route becuase the roads were so bad with Frost Heaves and sand. Did make it over the top of 118, however. I think Chris had a good time.

I did, It was great. Thank you showing me some of your favorites roads, Rt. 118 was fun! That whole little side deal road that ran along 93 S at the end of the ride was pretty good too. I just got home. I was going to upload the track that my zumo recorded starting from this AM when I left Plymouth. That'll take me a few minutes to figure out as I have never done it yet. Thanks again Dan, And it was a pleasure to meet Alan and Helen in person too. I look forward to the next time.

I had a great time, next timeI will be more prepared and bring a camera( that's charged  ) and I will get some pictures. The one I bought has the every 30 sec snap a shot feature so I may just "set it and forget it" ala Ron Popeil or Billy Mays whichever nut job came up with that saying. Thanks again. I think all those frost Heaves on Rt 118 worked the kinks out of my fork settings too. It was very smooth on the way home. .... or maybe just the lack of the bumps made it seem that way... :p whichever its all good with me..! thanks again Dan, you lead a good ride.

Edit: Here's the map of the day

By the way How do I get a screen shot of all the trip stat's Like I see on some peoples avatars. It has like total time top speed, miles, etc...... It's usually in blue when I see it.

Glad you enjoyed it , Chris. I always find the best parts of these rides are the times, like morning coffee and lunch, when you sit around and get to know people. That must be what all the owners of those Harley's we passed, parked in bar parking lots, were doing. Of the 300 or so Harley's we saw today, at least 30 were actually in motion.

Sounds like you fellas had a nice ride. I was thinking about missing the ride all day.

But my Mom appreciated the company greatly, so I guess I can't complain. They have her trussed up in bed so she can't move her hip at all, at least until they get some sort of a restraining harness made up for her on Monday.

I need to ride over 118 all the way some time before the Greens & Whites ride as I have that as a large component of my Whites loop. Which part did you find badly pock marked from frost heaves? If it was 118 I may have to lay some alternative routing out.

[edit] sounds like it was 118 between Lincoln and Wentworth. If it was that bad I may have to find an alternate path.

Yeah Fred, between Wentworth and Lincoln. It was a combination of the frost heaves/potholes and the surrounding sand that increased the "Oh, damn!" factor, especially on the North side (we went south to north). But, even the south side was a little torn up. You could do the limit, just not the 20 to 30 over the road begs for. If you go north to south, you'll be going uphill on the worst section and that'll make it safer. With any luck, they should clean it up some before your ride.

Dan
