George Zelenz (aka beeroux) is riding on a near bald tire - approaching Amarillo, TX

He is looking for good bike shop - fellow rider with torque wrench and breaker bar -

or general help in the area.

Don't know anyone in the area. I have left him names of a couple of places for possible tires (Route 66 cycle world and another i can't remember.

If there is anyone in the area willing to lend a hand - let me know

contact numbers are

work 619-328-3213

cell 619-971-4076

home; 858-375-7612

george's number is 760-567-0252 but let me know if you are calling him - please???

I just looked at the FJR Assistance Directory and we have 3 members from Texas listed but they are all in the Dallas area. Sorry I can't help.

just adding a reply so that this posting stays on the front page.

Haven't heard from George since around 3 PM.

Have a rider in Dallas who might get up to help him - but not really sure exactly where he is as he hasn't returned a call.

Anyone whose seen GZ ride (Especially in LOE last year) knows that he'll be using ALL of that rear tire before he calls you back. Can you say "threads"?

(Or, maybe this was a shameless BUMP to help him out...)

If he makes it to Fort Worth, I have a Harbor Freight stand, wheel balancer, and tools and can change tires.

I don't have a spare rear tire though, he would have to provide one.

Rider no longer needs help -

George will make it to NM where a tire will be available to him

Thanks for all the wise cracks. And thanks for the couple of serious replies.

actually - I expect wisecracks - though not on a request for help.

I expect this forum is like most things in life - when the defication hits the fan - most folks take a walk instead of stepping up.

You can usually tell who you can count on - pretty quickly.

I disagree Chuck.

When the poop TRULY hits the rotating oscillator, my experience is that a group like this WILL step up.

And given Georgie-porgie's unique sense of humor, and his prior display of his tendency for piss poor tire planning (Clicky Here), it's no surprise to me there was some humor here. I thought it appropriate. Still, I would have bent over backwards to help him out if I was in the area, even though nobody seemed to know where that was. ;)

Well, despite the lad's extremely questionable decision to depart on a major journey with sub par equipment, I'da lent the man my wheels & tires if need be. The reality of the situation is that you should have never had to post the request in the first place. Good friends try to help a brutha out with consultation or coin before he winds up in or near trouble and he shouldn't have left on questionable tires in hopes of help from a friend (or foe)... JMO.

- A wise ass ;)

Lookit pecker breath, every once and I while I get serious, so don't go diluting the poignancy of my post with your GAY ass replies, K? :p

You? GERBILass? Serious posts?

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Why don't you two silly ***** get a room, already?

before you all denigrate George for poor planning -

I asked him that question today -

He left 2 weeks ago on a brand new tire.

I guess he has been riding more than typing.

I think he had both replaced just before the trip. He was suppose to stop by my place the weekend before his departure but had an appointment to get his tires replaced that Saturday at 8:00am and decided to scrub coming by.

I guess he should have gotten a new tire somewhere along the way.

Listen, I am not trying to denigrate George. I love George.

But, what I don't like, is your accusatory tone like everyone let him down in a big emergency, when that is simply not the case.
