My father mentioned a book telling the story of a man who rode a Nimbus around the world. I would like to get this for his 70th birthday this summer, and am having no luck finding it. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

A Nimbus, well there's one I never heard of before. Looks like a cool old bike and pretty reliable from the sounds of it. You might try asking these folks Nimbus Club USA they'll know more that most of us here. If you find the book let us know!

I met a guy from Europe (Denmark, Netherlands?) in the early '80s who shipped his Numbus to the East Coast and rode it to Sturgis (where I met him). His plan was to continue on to L.A. for spectating at a Speedway Championship race and sell the Nimbus -- which he thought would provide funds enough to pay for everything? -- and fly home.

The Nimbus (an old/vintage M/C) was 4-cylinder with shaft-drive -- a fine combination... :)

Saw my first (and only) Nimbus in the shop next to where I worked.

Kirk F. White Autocars (IIRC). Was painted od green. I was riding a Zuke at the time and drivin' a 66 Chevelle (396) SS.

White had a mechanic that drove a beat up 289 AC Cobra (real, not a kit). They worked on exotic sportscars and White (who owned the Nimbus) displayed it at various shows around the area. (S. Fla.)

Right now on ADVRider.com there is a thread from two Norweigen guys who are currently riding two Nimbus bikes around the world. The thread is titled "Dumb Way Round".

I'll try to find it and put up a link.
