On Saturday, I enjoyed a really pleasant ride with Brian (FJRONAMISSION).
I'd contacted him midweek to see if he was up for a ride, and his response was enthusiastic.
Like so many here on the forum, his family and his job are his priorities, and it's not often he's
able to get away on his bike. I love enthusiastic people, who laugh easily (I ain't that funny),
and just enjoy the ride. (Miss you Tyler.)
And even though Brian is happiest riding the **** out of his bike, he was kind enough (respect for elders)
to let me lead and just cruise along at a moderate pace. I KNEW he was just dying to take a lot of these curves
MUCH more agressively, but he just sat back there, ...likely chuckling and dreading the day he's as slow as me.
Thanks amigo.
Enough of the word stuff. Here are a few photos of the day.
I met the MissionMan in Oakdale. He'd ridden there the night before and stayed at the BW.
As the sun rose on a fantastic day...
We had a marginal brekkie (cold sausage/no casing, dry toast,
but a nicely proportioned waitress at the end) in Oakdale, and then headed east to Sonora,
where we picked up sandwiches and refreshments for later in the day.
Then it was up the hill and over and around. Sights very familiar to the N. CA types here.
Yes, I wrecked these photos with a polarizing filter, but fixing them would take too long. So,
here ya go. Sorry. (The water was very blue, but not this blue. )
Spicer Reservoir.
Brian, trials riding?
Brian, hot-rodding while I was resting.
We spent the day up high, and by late afternoon, we found ourselves in Angels Camp, parting ways.
Brian continued west toward Stockton on 108, and then home to the south bay.
Me?
I was faced with a two-hour cruise up 49,
through the foothills of Northern California,
in the golden afternoon light of a late summer Saturday.
I coped by stopping often for piccies.
Just for my own entertainment,
...but hell, I'll post them anyhowz.
(BTW - Diana Krall - Live in Paris. Me accompanying. )
And finally, just before reaching my tiny apartment, I pulled in here to sit for a bit.
Not a soul about.
This is where many forum members said their final goodbye to Andrew (Orangevale) a while back.
At the service, I remember sitting in the back, laughing and crying for someone I'd never even met.
Then I hurried home. Late for my Lindy Hop lesson.
(About 450 on the odo.)
That's all folks. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
