Just curious. Since installing the cruise on my bike I have the tendancy to sit back relax and take my hands off the bars. I can ride for MILES and never touch the grips on the long slabs. Changing lanes and intersate curves are no problem. Now the question. How safe is this? Looking for your $0.02!

You're kidding, right?

Depends on how much you've had ta drink...

Not going to comment on just how safe or not it is. I am sure you will get plenty of responses. Just wanted to state that I have been doing it for years. Usually to fiddle with stuff in the tank bag(clean shield/glasses, put on rain covers, etc)...sometimes just to relax. Right or wrong, it works for me.

Got to be kidding... "How safe is this?"

Seriously, I will do it for a VERY brief time if I HAVE to have both hands free for something that I can do quickly, I'm on a straightaway, and there is NO traffic. But it sure as hell isnt anywhere near "safe".

Just because the bike can do it, doesn't mean it's a safe of smart thing to do! Just my $0.02.
Yep, my front tar is near the end and I was surprised how quick the oscillation was building when I was putzing with a glove over the weekend, woulda probably gone tank slapper if left untouched. It seems cool, but the risk reward ratio can get skewed in a hurry. :dribble:

Not to hijack the thread, but while I'm riding with no hands I like to take my revolver out the tank bank...unloaded of course....and put the end in my mouth and dry fire it.

How safe is this? Looking for your $0.02!

Inquiring minds want to know!

Not saying it's safe, but when I go down the hi-way no handed with the CC on, I like to get up on the seat and "surf" the bike to it's next destination. I find that it's the most comfortable way to ride and I get the most amusing looks from our fellow travellers...

I know that by the time I finished off my Quarter pounder, the bike was pulling slightly to the left...think its the head bearings, or is the tire cupping?

Don't lie! You ride with a semi-auto!!! (Gun, not bike.)

(Don't you?)

If you really want to know about riding no hands, watch this.

[edit]Just seen puppychow's video. Not sure which is better (?)

I have done it from time to time on my previous bike...it was straight as an arrow. My FJR starts going left within seconds. What could be the cause of that?

FJR's are prone to penile inertia effect. I suggest adjusting your package to the right. You know the old saying "swing right, ride straight" B)
