Don-

I never met you, but I feel like I've known you through all your funny posts. May you ride on an eternal highway of perfect curves! RIP.

I've read every post in this thread, and have come to the conclusion, that each of us should be so lucky, to have so many say nothing but good things about us once we're gone. What a testament to Don's character as a man.

I've been going through the pre-Christmas ritual as usual, but I find my mind wondering to Don, and his family, what seems like constantly. I think it's the shock of the news that's causing this. I found myself hugging my wife Marie more, holding my daughter Riana, and telling her how much I love her. The thought of losing them in an instant scares me. Having Don posting here about the wonders of being Irish one day, and gone the next....well.... it puts things in a clearer perspective.

Whenever I logged on to the forum each day, seeing Don's blue shirt, in his avatar, always drew my attention. I knew it was either plans for a ride or get-together, or he was cutting up at someone's expense....or his own. Either way, I always had to look.

I'm going to miss seeing that blue-shirt avatar.

Just now read the terrible news. Can't hardly believe it. Such a giving guy. Godspeed Don....

After reading Don's posts for years here on the forum, I had the pleasure of meeting Don for the first time at EOM this year. A sweetheart of a man and nothing like I'd expected after pegging his personality to his posts. Very likable and mild mannered. I feel very fortunate to have met him.

To Don's family and all his close friends, my heart goes out to all of you.

Godspeed Don. What a shock. I met Don riding around lake Coeur d'Alene in north Idaho when I first got my FJR in the summer of 2009 at WFO. Recall another great day heading up to Castlegar Canada following him with Seth on the back of his big BMW. Great guy, don't know if there was ever anyone more passionate about riding. He'll be greatly missed. Sad, sad sad....
I remember that day, WFO 8 Moscow.

This is sad news indeed. He was a cut up for sure here on the forum, but in RL he was such a sincere individual.

My condolences to Seth, Donna and to the multitude of friends Don had made.

My fondest memory of Don would have to be riding behind him at SWFOG in CO with Seth riding pillion. I could see there was a special bond between those two on that bike.

We'll all miss you terribly Mr Stanley.

Didn't know him but he is obviously a great man who affected a lot of lives in a positive way.

That is a legacy worth celebrating.

Peace and prayers to his friends and family.

Through this forum I have learned a lot about FJR's, and a lot about people. Good people who have a common love for enjoying life, family, friends and yea...motorcycling.

I never had the opportunity to meet Don in person, but though this forum, he was a friend. RIP Don!

My sincerest condolences to the family.

It is very hard to take issue with any of these many positive tributes above to our good friend BeemerDonS. When I agreed to put together a Canadian FJR Rally in 2009 in Nakusp, Don was on the line to me right away offering helpful tips and promising to support us in any way he could - and of course he did, including bringing Seth with him to enjoy the rally.

Papa Chuy has an amazing network of moto-friends throughout the world including a lot of us Canadians. When we told him we were coming south for the Winter a couple of years ago, Don immediately got a group together (mostly AZ Beemers) for a long weekend ride in February to Rocky Point in Puerto Penasco. He also offered Sylvia and I a room at his home for the night before and the loan of his Gen 3 FJR "Naomi" (now Don Carver's Naomi) for the ride. What an amazing ride that was - I will never forget the dinner we all had at the chicken shack!

If you were a friend of Don's you were instantly a friend of all of Don's other friends - an experience that we had the pleasure of having many times over the years, in many beautiful places, in 3 different countries.

But enough with the mushy stuff - that man had human frailties too, and the biggest one we ever saw was that he should not be allowed to own a dog! His beautiful lab puppy (Oso) had been to obedience school with Don, and it was very clear that they both had been trained and understood who the alpha male was in that relationship - the dog.

Donna and Seth: Don was a wonderful, larger-than-life guy. We will all miss him so much, but I think we are also all just a little better for having known him. Take good care - it is Christmas morning and I have some loved ones to hug just a little bit too tight today...

Hard to believe this happened.

I have a lump in my throat the size of Dallas.

Prayers sent.

From the first ride with Naomi...I was fortunate to know and ride with Don. Seeing the title of this thread didn't register as real.
