Hello forum friends. Richard Morrison aka "Farkles" passed away this past Sunday while riding his FJR. I see that reference to his passing has been posted elsewhere and don't want to duplicate but thought I would give a few more details on his accident as I was with Richard on his final ride.

Richard and I rode together to the Park City WFO gathering last year so some of you may have met him there.

Richard and I have had the opportunity to get in a short ride this spring, but this was our first opportunity to get out for a full day. The plan was to take I5 south to hwy 96 and ride west to Happy Camp then south and loop through Forks of the Salmon and Cecilville. We met for breakfast and headed out, 5 bikes total and a nice warm spring day.

Richard took the sweep position as we headed west on hwy 96. About 15 or so miles down the road we noticed Richard was not on our rear and we turned around. Upon returning we saw that our friend had gone down. Another car heading east was already stopped and heading for the nearest house to call for help. It seems Richard passed very quickly. I waited to post this as we at first thought he may have had a heart attack but I spoke with his sister today and she told me the medical examiner feels he died from injuries to his head. Since he was riding in the tail position his accident was not witnessed by any riders from our group.

Richard was riding his FJR when he passed away, something he really enjoyed. Keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

As mentioned by Rebekah his niece they are planning a memorial service in a few weeks.

For ride survivors, this is the hardest thing to experience; returning to the scene. I know. Don't know what to say, other than... Thank You for the post, may you and his friends and family find comfort and solace. See my signature for how I view life.. This is not typing out like I want it too. Why am I crying for a person I've never met? A loss of a fellow rider, virtual or personal friend, is just hard to accept. Hang tough, prayers being sent. Don

Bob, thanks for sharing...that had to be a hard ride to ride home from.

I can't even imagine the feeling of loss...you rode with him to WFO and here you go on a joyous happy ride....and it turns tragic. I obviously feel bad for the family, but I also feel empathy and concern for you Bob and the others that were on this ride with poor Richard. :(

RIP Richard "Farkles" Morrison! God Speed to you and your family. My family and I have sent prayers up for you, your family and friends.

That is incredibly sad and hard to read. The not knowing what happened seems really hard too.

Are there any pics of you guys at WFO? I'd like to be able to place a face with the name.

Deepest sympathies to his family and friends and to you gotpackage. I'm very sorry for you loss.

RIP Richard.

I hated to read this. On Sunday, I got a call from a mutual friend of Rick's who told me the news as shared with him from Rick's niece. She had been told the info in a round about way. It was weird because even though I knew it was true, I couldn't believe it. I'd been scouring the Internet looking for a story on the crash, but couldn't find one...until today. Click here for a short synopsis of the crash from CHP.

This one hits close to home. I don't like it.

Take care, Rick, and watch over us. We'll miss you.

Oh, man what a sad sad thing to read. Thanks so much for taking the time and having the courage to post this for all of us. My best to Farkles' family and friends.

I'm so sorry our schedules never seemed to work out for that ride we were going to do. I never met your uncle, but knew him through his posts and PM's -- he truly loved riding, and I am very sorry for your loss. Prayers sent.
