Alright, Chris and Diana! Good journeying to you both. See you in Nakusp on the 18th.

FJRPierre showed up around 1:00 - 1:30. Had some lunch an Don Cherries then rode with him up to Espanola. Then he asks.. Is this the Hwy 6 you keep talking about? "Ya" I say. "Lets do it!" he says.

So a little detour up Hwy 6 to the lookout for some pics then back to the Trans Canada where we parted ways around 4pm. He should roll into Sault Ste. Marie around 6:30 for the night.

Moosehead's on ice, fresh propane tank hooked up to the BBQ, waiting for Mr. & Mrs. BugR. I just looked at his Spot Tracker, looks like I have about 2hrs to kill... I'm thinkin' nappy time!

Well Mr. & Mrs. BugR showed up around 10:30 after getting checked into their hotel for the night. As their parking was secure, and, the bikes covered over, I ran over and picked them up in the truck. Outside at 11pm I fired up the BBQ while they relaxed inside with a couple of nice cold Mooseheads. Had a great visit, but I sure did feel sorry for the day that they had. They didn't get moving until about 2:30pm after doing a ton of that last minute stuff. I'm thinking they should've left leaving until today.

Had some nice T-bones, baked potato's and salad, visited for a little bit more and dropped them off at their hotel around 1:30am.

Woke up to my phone ringing at 9:30 this morning. Hopped on the bike, and met them while they 'reassembled' their packing.

They didn't pack the kitchen sink, somehow, I think they managed to get the entire house in a compression bag inside a large moto-fizz:

This is when I noticed something not quite right about Chris's bike:

That's it! When you carrying this much weight, you need a tire off a transport on the back!

"Oh, i say, bloody sot, its 10:30am!"

I think Chris is taking the ear plugs OUT after a late night and an early morning. Diana zipping on her tank panniers.

We finally pulled out of the hotel around 11:30 in a light sprinkle and cool temps. I had planned on riding with them as far as Nairn Center at a truck stop. Hey, I wanted to go with them, but I had stuff to get done. Sorry, no food shots, but the breakfast at Jeremy's is really good!

Their smiling now.. kinda.. Lets compare this to the after pics in 8 weeks after riding all the way to Alaska and back.

Seriously though, had a great little visit with some good peeps. It was my pleasure showing them some good Northern Hospitality. Ride safe guys, I'll be following your progress on your SPOT!

Ah. Going for some big mileage tomorrow. Shame, your gonna be moving on a really scenic stretch! Remember what I said about Rossport if you decide to pack it in short of Thunder Bay - About 30km past Schreiber.. Theirs a great biker friendly hotel there - looks like you might have some weather coming in.

There is NOTHING better than hitting the open road on the first day of a long-planned motorbike trip! :yahoo:

A joyful thing.

Have a fantastic and safe journey.
I know that feeling, we also departed for CFR on the morning of the 6th as part of a 6 week coast to coast trip. Had all the routes planned down to WV,TN, KY and then north west towards WY and MT before heading north to Nakusp. But as it is with my luck my GPS crapped out on the start of day two and won't show any routes :angry2: so we have to pretty much wing it from here on. Good thing Charlie Hoss ave ne a small road atlas when he met us for dinner on sat night.

I feel your pain Kevin.... My GPS is doing odd things. It can't decide whether it is daytime or night time. Today it wouldn/t run one of my loaded routes....I had to wing it. Good thing it was a easy route.

I've been following your Spot as well Tom, you guys are making some tracks! Pre-trip jitters are setting in strong, but Mike and pull out on Sat.

Be safe, see you in 2 weeks.

Steve, thanks for the recommendation to eat at Annies Kitchen in MD. We had dinner there tonight and are staying at the Comfort Inn in McHenry, MD tonight and headed down the 219 tomorrow.

Wow, already rolling. I'm jealous. I'm currently in Phoenix thru Wednesday, home for four days, then headed to Las Vegas until the Thursday before CFR, then finally going supersonic on the FJR to Nakusp on Friday of. Wish I could trade places!

Well we made it to Thunder Bay, too far though for Diana, going to take one of our spare days and take it easy across to the Black hills

Chris

I liked Annie's. Simple place but the food is great and not overly expensive. Just a few miles south is Deep Creek, a place I want to return to and do some exploring. Enjoy bud!
