Must be he wants to win one more title before he retires. Doesn't look like Ducati could do it for him.

So.... beat Agostini's record, and then do a Surtees and win the world drivers championship in F1?

Good news for Yamaha in any case. :yahoo:

Outstanding for us tuning fork peeps !!! What of Ben Spies then? It'll be great to see Valentino back again, good energy !

Spies has already announced that he is leaving yamaha a few weeks ago. I think he is going to Worldsuperbike if he races at all next year. I think he is tired of all the little errors his team has done to his bike. A rear suspension failing at Laguna being the latest.

Also, it looks like Dovi is going to Ducati and Crutchlow will stay where he is at Tech 3. At least that is the latest rumor that makes any sense.

I think Crutchlow may be getting the better end of that deal -- at least, based on this year's performance.

More on the Rossi deal: VisorDown was saying the rumored deal included Rossi playing a big role in the development of Yammie's next superbike and then moving with it to WSBK after the 2014 season. The idea behind that was that Rossi wanted to be the first to win both MotoGP and WSBK championships. That would be cool if it came to pass.

yeah heard that rumor too. Guess we'll hear more once an official announcement comes out at the Indy MotoGP

I saw Yammie's press release today on a different site. Didn't mention anything about post-2014. I'm gonna guess neither side wants to commit to that just yet... I'd still like to see it, though.

It's just a rumor and unlikely to be confirmed (if true) until closer to the end of Rossi's contract in 2014.

After watching him Ghost-ride that weak Duc at the top of the 'screw, I'd say he was done with Team Duc!

Like him or not, Rossi gets it done. His equipment at Ducati was making it impossible. That's gonna be a lonely spot for Dovi to occupy next season because Duc can't siphon off any of the Japanese electronic gurus to their side. Until they get that figured out, they'll always be sniffing the exhaust from Team Factory Yamaha and Team Repsol Honda.

Whaaa-hoooo! Looks like my topcase packing is back to good for the next couple years:

As for Spies, I'd love to see him win WSBK on a BMW.

I know that Ducati has their problems but I wonder if it isn't more the difference in management/engineering styles.

As a casual observer it seems to me that Yamaha is more willing to alter their bikes to fit what the rider wants. From snippets I've read quoting former Duc riders it sounds to me that Ducati wants the rider to adapt to what the engineers are doing.

Again...I'm a casual observer and don't know the inside scoop or personalities involved.

I hope it works out well for the Rossi/Yamaha partnership. It would be lovely to see them on the podium...

There is a lot of truth in your observations

I am very happy about this :yahoo: It will be fantastic seeing Vale battling for wins again and see him finish his career as a contender with possibly another world championship.

I'd like to see Spies remain in MotoGP. He can do so much better than this season's results. And he's an American racer. But he would need a factory ride to do it. So he may take that BMW WSBK offer. I think there is a strong possibility he may go bicycle racing next year, his true passion. He does own a bicycle race team.
