There is no "win" Fred. Just calling BS when I see it. I do have to say, the fanboys that were all hot about this bike now say they wouldn't buy one. What's up with that?

I still wouldn't bet money on the bike actually showing up on our shores, even at this point with mag articles and Japan test rides. Guess I'll just have to go bother the dealer and check out the IMS in Nov.

If you meant me, by "fanboy", you are mistaken. I was never "hot to buy one". I do like the VFR I already have and the FJR that I already have. I also like the Triumph that I already have. They all do everything that I want them to do. The inference, realized no doubt by those more perceptive folks out there, is the "that I want" part.

Will they do everything? Clearly not. They won't dual sport well. If I wanted to dual sport, I'd buy a dual sport bike. They aren't track bikes, though I've never even been on a track other than MX track in my youth. If I needed a track bike it wouldn't be one of these. And they aren't very good in the sack either , though you shouldn't tell Howie that.

I'm just getting a bit weary of your "I'm better than you are" attitude. I really don't care. I have no need or desire to impress you with my "greatness". I am happy and comfortable in the things that I do, and with my opinions. And, FWIW, I have pretty decent reading comprehension (and writing) skills.

Like I said... whatever.

If I'm being lumped into that "fanboy" category, that's fine by me. I am a big fan of this bike and hope it does really, really well. I'm a fanboy because I like technology. It's what I do for a living and thus anytime I see technology being moved ahead - right, wrong or otherwise, I tend to be very supportive. I am thrilled to see Honda do something different; pushing the envelope as I said previously. I want to see the DCT technology embraced by the motorcycling community and go mainstream. Matter of fact, I want the Gen III FJR to have it. Hell, I want all bikes to have it. Anything that makes riding more accessible is an exceptionally good thing in my view.

As an aside, it is confirmed that the US will be getting this bike. Expect delivery to dealer showrooms beginning late March/early April. (Unfortunately however, the US is only getting the red bike in 2010. Europe and Japan are getting all 3 colors; red, black and white.) No word however on whether it'll be at the IMS.

WTF!!! How the hell did I get dragged into this?

I need a rain poncho for the pissin' match. And a lead ballsack protector for the fallout. (not to mention the strap hoist for the damage gravity and time has done to the "boyz")

Ahhhhh.........I see OCfjr is demonstrating his mad people skillz once again.

Eric, you know I  you and all, but do you realize how big an ****** you sound like sometimes?

Here's a big :****: headed your way, bro.

And I owe you many beers for your work in Gerlach. I didn't know. Thanks a bunch.

Actually, I didn't. But you seem to take offence to it anyway. WTF?

Fred, we look at some things from completely different angles. You're reading waaay too much between the lines. As for your last sentence, I can only go with the things you actually type. I can't read your mind and understand that you meant to say or infer something else. Specifically, you said the FJR does everything well for you. Apparently you meant to say the three bikes you have satisfy your riding needs quite well. I can understand that fine. Saying one bike does everything well, which you said, I could not understand and don't believe to be true.

I haven't had time to read the rest of the post on this thread yet. Working, don't cha know. I'm not ever saying "I'm better than you". And I don't get why you are saying that I am. You like the VFR you have. Great! I didn't like the one I rode. Different opinions, quite possibly of different generations of the bike for all I know. Neither of us is wrong, only right for ourselves.

Talking about vaporware bikes is like watching sports on tv. You're a lot better off just going out and riding your motorcycle than talking about the crap that might come out. Just like you're money ahead to turn off the tv and go play the game yourself instead of watching others play it.

@SkooterG - Yes, I know. Back at ya. Its way more fun in person. As to Gerlach, nothing owed. It's all about those we remember there. Tip one back for them.

I thought Howie would post less once the bike was running. Boy, do I feel stupid! :fool:

WTF #2???

A feature of one of the patent submission illustrations (below) that immediately caught my attention is the very upright riding position with feet positioned behind lower fairing. Either the engineer that drafted this drawing got it way wrong (and nobody caught it prior to submission), or this is what we might expect in a yet-to-be announced "T" model. Interesting....

I guess you won't want to use a tank bag with the touring version. My first question would be if you can swap the tank from the non-airbag bike to the airbag bike, thus deleting the bomb.

Sock - I'd have to say the artist got it completely wrong. Look at the foot position compared to the above pictures. The feet are so far forward that the fairing acts as footguards. Compared to the pic where the feet are much farther back.

Also noted from the article is that only the left bag will take a full face helmet. I'm guessing the right bag is cut out for exhaust issues, reducing available space. I'm baffled about things like this. Engineers are so proud of themselves, yet can't design things that work. Design the exhaust to allow for full, matching bags. Is that really so hard?

Good question, which leads me to wonder whether an airbag will be standard on all bikes or a specially optioned model like the Gold Wing Airbag. I'd guess the latter...

Has Honda offered more than one model/package on anything other than the GL1800? I'm thinking that you only had two choices on the ST1300, std or abs. There may not be any options on the touring package version of the VFR. No mention of that type of offering so far, just lots of accessories.

Typically with the GL, you had to order the top of the line version to get abs, which forced you into the GPS and airbag too.
