Should these rumors prove true and if Honda remained "faithful" to the look and easy ergos of the original 69 CB 750 but with modern suspension and brakes...WOW! A sohc 4 with 67 hp would do fine. There would definately be room for one in my "Toy Room" next to my 1970 CB 750. Interesting and hopefully true. Any other interested parties? DFO :yahoo:

 
Nah. I couldn't get excited over a 67 HP 750 these days.

To each their own I guess - I've got a 750 (and have had for 20 years now) with around 68 hp and I couldn't be happier, could be my favorite bike. It does everything well - and is comforable as hell - I love my flying brick

IMhO HP doesn't make or break the bike...I had a ZX12R and after several ultra hi speed forays deep up into triple digits....so what? Yet one of my personal favorites (which I shouldn't have traded...) was my used '82 Kaw GPZ 550: FUN! Rode that lil bike all over lalaland's mountains and canyons in 1990, 7000+ miles worth in 7 months. After that I trailered her back home to Indiana. Really a fun to ride bike. I's say if Honda does a "retro" CB 750 with the LOOK, sound, modern suspension and brakes plus a reasonable price...yup, I'd get one.

My lil DR 650 thumper doesn't have many horseeez, but she is lotsa fun to carve curves with (Avon AM 26 street rubber on her) and that's what I look for in a bike. After 79 bikes from a Cub 50 to a ZX12R it's simply how much fun, for me, is the bike to ride and how much "garage (eye) appeal" does it have? BTW that BMW brick still looks GOOD! DFO

 
there was a two page article about this in the latest Motorcyclist mag. Some of those bikes looked very rideable.

MikeYork - I had an '87 K75s Beemer and it was a great looking (Lava Red) and nice riding bike. I loved the torque and gearing on that bike.

Well, since you had the good 'taste' to own a K75 I MIGHT have to re-evaluate my opinion of you - YOU HARLEY BASHSER YOU!

I almost bought another K75 off of craigslist over the weekend, a 1991 with 27K for $2,000 (with the intent of making a couple of bucks on a resell) but I 'snoozed' and I 'loozed'. As I see you agreed, it is a great bike.

I believe that's called the Night Hawk that Honda still sells. Well, the modern part, but not so much the look, other than a standard.

 
Here's a good rumor....

I heard that Honda was going to combine the Blackbird with the St1100 and make a whole new sport touring line.

 
Honda does not bring cars back after they've been given the ugly ax. I'm pretty sure they do not do the same for motorbikes.

I'll give you the S series. The civic and the element are two different vehicles, same for the civic cr-x and the ev-1. They may have the same basic shape, but that's where it ends. The element is built off the civic platform, but it sure isn't that ancient civic posted above it. Also, I think the ev-1 is it's own platform but I dunno.

Platform...schmatform. You said "...given the ugly ax..." Ugly refers to looks/appearance. You based your premise on appearance, not on mechanical origins. So your rebuttal just went **** up. :****:

Oh, and the EV-1 was GM....that's a Honda Insight pictured.

I think that has been (more times than not) the reception of retros in America? Maybe some other markets are, generally, more accepting? Having said that, a good bike is still a good bike -- looks, performance, ergos, etc.....

RadioHowie: thanks for the memories (I owned an S600, what fun). And, I'm on your side -- (I'm pretty sure) a new CB750 won't be the old platform but will (hopefully?, to be successful) impact the market like the original did -- revolutionary.

BTW -- pictures are worth 1000 words. :p
