Horsepower is, by far, the most overrated aspect of any motorcycle in my book. The new Triiumph Scrambler makes less than 50 to the rear wheel and is a great ride. And one of the favorite rides in my current stable is a 62-hp V-Strom which can do virtually everything my FJR can do except run above 120 mph. It will also easily outrun the FJR in the tight stuff. I wouldn't mind it making more hp, but it's just not a critical factor. Build the bike to be great at it's mission and the hp it makes becomes a non-issue. A retro CB750's job would be to look great and be a simple, easy, low-cost, easy-to-maintain scoot. Just like the Scrambler, you don't need 100+ hp for this.

I'd love to see a retro CB750. Honda needs to do something to get out of it's tailspin.

To do that they need to change management @ the top.....since the old man passed, it's been a downhill spiral..... :bye2: ....

Spent a lot of years and miles, well, kilometers, on a '76 Honda 750 K6 in Germany. Cafe racer, just like I saw all the German riders doing. I ******* loved that bike. Rickman fairing, Koni shocks, a pipe, cafe seat, Magura clip-ons, rear-sets. Sport bike all the way. Ran the best tires of the day, the old Dunlop K81. Front and rear. We reversed the direction of the front tire so the tread pattern would be suitable to hard braking. Really sweet bike. That's why I've always been a sport bike guy. I rode sport bikes before there were sport bikes. :yahoo:

I'm too satisfied with my Gen 1 FJR to get rid of it, and if I were to add another bike it would be the '08 'busa. But the Honda OHC 750 was a milestone machine in motorcycle history, and I truely enjoyed riding the piss out of one for several years.

Been there done that, no thanks.
I think that has been (more times than not) the reception of retros in America? Maybe some other markets are, generally, more accepting? Having said that, a good bike is still a good bike -- looks, performance, ergos, etc.....

RadioHowie: thanks for the memories (I owned an S600, what fun). And, I'm on your side -- (I'm pretty sure) a new CB750 won't be the old platform but will (hopefully?, to be successful) impact the market like the original did -- revolutionary.

BTW -- pictures are worth 1000 words. :p
Here are another thousand words to say that retro CAN be good...

1982 version of my avatar. Er, um, is my avatar a 2002 version of the above? :)
ZREXs are cool. I just missed picking one up last year. I still think about the one that got away.
