there has been an extra group buy added at advrider for those interested.

clicky for group buy

the guys over there saw this group buy and saw how fast it filled up and was able to secure a second group buy over there

I have sent an email to everyone on the stand by list to let them know about this extended opportunity.

Please remember, you need to email the coordinator just like for the group buy here. Don't just post in the thread that you're in.

Good luck to those trying to get in on group buy #2. Don't wait, the new group buy is only 80 spots, and we filled 100 in a little over 1 week.

You would think Yamaha Corp would get a clue based on customer needs and sell their world class Sport Tourer with a world class seat right off the showroom floor.

Offering a long distance touring bike with a less than stellar seat is like selling a rainsuit that isn't waterproof.

I've often wondered the same thing, why skimp on some of the key parts on a moto like this? A good seat, suspension, etc would up the base price some, but I think people would be willing to pay a little more for something set up like that. Maybe they haven't figured out that the average american weighs a little more than 150lbs

Anyway, I'm looking forward to having a seat I can stand for more than 30 minutes :yahoo: Suspension is next, I'm looking out for the next racetech group buy already

No way can a mass mfgr build custom seats for each customer. They all aim for an average target and, most of their average customers are fine with that. Our cost for getting personalized seats and suspensions are far cheaper that the across-the-board price increase would be for those who never need such things.

Exactly.

Besides, if they tried to make the stock seat great for touring there would be plenty that would be complaining that it wasn't appropriate for "sport" riding. When you buy a motorcycle that is a jack-of-all-trades you get a seat that is the same.

But they build for an average of 150 lbs right? If I had to guess I'd say aiming a bit higher would cover more of the actual average customers, maybe a seat and suspension capable of handling a 190-220 lb rider would be good.

Still love the bike, still looking forward to the new seat too :yahoo:

Then the shrimps would complain about not being able to flat foot the bike. They can't win a battle like this, so the status quo is the least costly path.

This buy filled so fast partial due to other forums jumping onboard. I now see other forums have listed Russell Group buys as well.
Just be careful you don't screw someone by getting on multiple lists.

Sorry if this has already been posted. I didn't take the time to read thru the thread.
Thanks Scotty. I had already sent out the information about the ADVrider group buy to the FJRforum stand by list, and just sent them the info on the Stromtrooper group buy. Looks like it hasn't been open too long.

The good news is that if people on the FJRForum stand by list don't get onto the other list(s) before they are due in at Russell here in a few days, Russell will fill empty spots on those lists with our stand by's.

Remember, the lists have to be turned in on Sept 17th.

Unfortunately, the guy running the Group Buy on ADVrider is not communicating. I have no idea if I am on his list or not...

I imagine with only a few days until he must submit his list, he's got a barrage of messages to sort through. Did you send him a PM through the stromtrooper forum? I believe that's the only way to let him know for sure.

Also, are you on the stand by list for the group buy here? My understanding is Russell will fill any vacant spots on the other group buys with people from the stand by lists.

Paul,

Yes, I am on your stand by list (#104). I have not done anything with the Stormtrooper list. I have tried to sign-up for the Advrider one, but I don't know if I got in or not... I'm not going to sign up for all 3 and will just hope for the best at this point.

Thanks for organizing all this!

It's cheaper to lose weight.
