It was a sad day here over the weekend. I took the bikes out for one last ride as the weather was beautiful, bought oil and filters, threw some Sta-Bil in the tank and filled them up. I lovingly washed the bikes and dried them, of course then I had to ride it again, but then carefully parked in the garage put the covers over them and said goodbye for the year. Today the weather is nasty and we expect snow midweek. Of course with weather like we often see it could snow one day and then hit 70 the next.

I guess I may have to live through this forum for the next few months.

It was a sad day here for a different reason. I bought a new phone for the house and had to transfer new numbers and while I was at it I edited the numbers on my cell phone.

I was really overtaken by sadness when deleting OrangevaleFJR's home and cell numbers and the same for TWN's. I'm really still a bit down from the experience. I still haven't deleted their email addresses.....Am I a silly man, or what!?!?

Say what? That's your problem right there - now is the time to take her apart and do some serious farkling. So get that plastic off and get to work, by the time you figure out how everything goes back together it will be time to ride!

Silly, no. Sentimental yes.

For you folks who are Stabil-izing and covering and Battery-Tending, I'll be nice and not slam you with how phreaking nice it was out here today and how I could have gone riding but I didn't cause I know tomorrow will be even warmer and better and so forth and so on.

Truth be known, today was a beautiful day to go riding but my home server decided to drop 2 hard drives in a Raid-5 configuration...

As an olive branch I'll offer to post more ride reports over the winter, try to improve on my photography and words, in order to help my Eastern brothers and sisters through the long cold winter.

Scared me there for a second

Usually when I see the title of a post "Sad Day" someone went down. Glad that's not the case.

Just remember you can always bring your bike out here to California and get plenty of nice riding in

Parkerspop I am sorry to hear you are having to winterize your ride. I am fortunate in that I can get in a ride every couple of week during the winter even in Jan. & Feb. It is enough to keep the battery up and give me my fix. We had great weather all weekend. I rode to SW OK on Friday and did about 300 mi. Today I rode NE and did about 180 mi. High both days was in low 80's, sunny and very little wind. Ideal riding weather. Got to see some great foleage on Friday which I did not really expect. Hopefully you will have a short winter so you can get back on the road.

Saturday morning was tough one for me... I got an hour or so on the Angeles Forest and Crest Highways before the rain got too bad. It is too bad when the weather drops to the upper sixties. I used to live in Ogden I don't missed the winter weather except for the snow machines....

I don't live too far from you and I don't put the bike away for the winter.

There's always those few nice sunny days, albiet chilly, where you can get in at least a 30 minute romp around town.

It's good for the soul and the bike.

Something to consider.......

So glad to see this thread was on the 'lighter' side. I'm sorry to say I was expecting the worse; so glad I was wrong, so sad I assumed a bad thing. Good thoughts for all you with Winter concerns.

It should never be a sad day. All you need is these!

I would say this would take care of your winter riding problem...

I will never again title a thread "Sad Day" sorry about the bad impressions it made on many of you. I appreciate the good thoughts from those of you in the south and California. I do appreciate your thinking of me when you ride. Supposed to snow here tomorrow. But there will probably be that intermittent warm weekend that I'll be tempted to take her out.

I rode to work today...and it was a good thing I did. My company truck was having problems so I had to take the bike to a couple of job sites and got in some FANTASTIC riding time!

Actually, it is sooooo sad to store the bikes and be faced with winter sports, like plowing the driveway and walking on an indoor track (round and round) and sitting at a computer and just reading.

So, I volunteered to teach (tutor) first graders reading, second graders math, and third graders writing. These wonderful kids have brought the summer sunshine back into my life, and for a few months I can ponder how amazing it is to receive such kindness every day.

It's not that 0 to 75 thrill I get going up an on-ramp in second or third gear, but it is a wonderful feeling in another part of my brain.

At 70, I am now blessed to count every day a wonder, be it a wonder of the amazing power wretched from a spoonful of gasoline or the touching wonder of a young child's kindness.

How can I keep from singing?
