I can only imagine the family being told the scientific procedures of body decomposition, like in that article, and feel the grip of grief surrounding them. My thoughts are with his family, as this has to be a total shock to one's reality.

Just a headsup - careful if you search "missing man Butte", as it pulls up a few relevant articles and one very irrelevant article about a different missing man that was found, but a little while back. That was a 15 second roller coaster of emotion that was just unfortunate.

Still praying. Today should be a big push from what I read in the new article. This stuff happens to the wrong people all the time. Rivers are so dangerous this time of year especially.

Every time I hear or read something like this, where I am helpless beyond prayers and thoughts, I get selfish. If I can't do something to help my friend, what can I do to help myself? What can I learn from his misfortune?

All I got right now is this - we don't get to decide. Live it everyday. Lay down my burdens, my animosities. Agree to disagree, hug or kiss 'em, and move on. It's too ******* short, man - and it just ain't worth it anymore.

Excuse me - I've got a phone call to make.....

Checking this thread daily while I continue to keep Cole and his family in my thoughts and prayers. I can't fathom the agony his family is going through. We all need to hug those we love a little closer today.

The camp — a white teepee, picnic tables, and a large pile of wood — is nestled among cottonwood and willow trees just starting to green after the long winter. Boehler's shoes were found nearby on the riverbank, said Deputy Bauers.

From the Butte newspaper, The Montana Standard:

After an intensive day of searching produced no results Saturday, efforts to locate Cole Boehler of Butte have been suspended for now, Madison County Sheriff Roger Thompson said Saturday.
The effort to find Boehler, 60, who disappeared more than a week ago from a family campsite on the Jefferson River, involved some 35 searchers Saturday from Gallatin, Madison, Jefferson and Silver Bow counties, Thompson said. He said the searchers used both search dogs and divers.

Despite the suspension of the search, "We may reevaluate as the river changes to conduct some specific searches in places that have not yet presented themselves," Thompson said Saturday evening.
Boehler was last seen about 1:30 a.m. April 30. His leather shoes were found on the river bank, which has led search-and-rescue personnel to search the Jefferson. Authorities still believe Boehler's body may be in a side channel of the runoff-swollen Jefferson.

So, this time of year, how long does one normally have to wait for the river to have "improved conditions"?

Days, weeks, or months?

Hard to predict. We are getting more moisture now and the snow pack is about average. If it stops raining, then my guess is a week or two. The process by which a body in water is normally found is not pleasant to describe, so I'll leave it there.

So sorry to report, just saw this:

The body of Butte man missing for more than a week was found Tuesday morning in the Jefferson River near Cardwell — 36 river miles from where he apparently fell in, authorities said.
A Whitehall area resident reported at 8:45 a.m. to 911 what appeared to be a body floating in the river, Madison County Sheriff Roger Thompson said Tuesday.

Tammy and I will be praying for his friends and family.

Crap! Crap! Crap! I just saw this. Worried and sad. I will continue to hope and pray. What a great guy that has influenced me with his book and his advice here.

edit - I read too fast and didn't see Frushlorton's detail that they found his body. Read the article and found the sadder news. But at least they have some closure. Crap.

Thank you for letting us on the Forum know. Very sad, sadder still for the family. However, better to have a body to bury for the family's sake. Rest in peace Cole. I hardly knew you...but what I did know showed you to be a good man.

If anyone can find a link to the Funeral home guestbook...please post it.

OMG.....I don't even know what to say. This is so sad. Prayers to his family.

Just got through re-reading old pm's from him and noticed, and want to note his signature..

"The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. The others - the living - are those who pushed their luck as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down, or did whatever they had to when it came time to choose between Now and Later."
