Three CHP bikers were on Old Julian Highway this morning in a well hidden spot with radar. After following a pickup at 35mph through the tight stuff, there was a 100 yard stretch with clear visibility. I zipped around him in the bat of an eye and then noticed, in the distance, what looked like someone walking into the road - then another "person". As I got closer I realized there were two people standing the the road waving me down - then I saw the uniforms.

Wrote me up for passing on double-yellows and let the 74mph in a 55mph zone slide.

After several hours of riding we came back through Santa Ysabel, headed north towards Mesa Grande and there were all three cops - again. Each in their chosen place on the side of the road with radar. One was at the Mesa Grande intersection.

As we rode on 76 W past Palomar and the Valley Center exit, two bikes gave me the cop warning signal. I saw one patrol car traveling, but nothing else.

Anyway, they are hot on those roads so be careful next weekend.

aw it sounds like you were with Johnny D when he got pulled over today, He was on the orange Aprillia Tuono, he pulled in to Santa Ysabel gas station ranting and raving about it. He did get writing up, the cop wrote him up for over 55mph He gave Him a break and didn't write Him up for 70mph. If it is the same situation.. lol He said someone did a double yellow pass and got Him pulled over and that the cop said you have Him to thank for your ticket. Sham on you passing on a double yellow!!!! :)

What a beautiful day though, my Fiance and I rode out to Borrego Springs, perfect weather.... :yahoo:

I see what you're saying about how wild they've gotten! I mean, crossing a double yellow at nearly 20 over the speed limit isn't something any cop should ever worry about, right? It's not like anyone ever dies doing that type of stuff, right? What will they go after next?

I plead innocent! Nobody around me. I have no shame about he double-yellows! It was a completely safe maneuver. The CHP went on and on about how people get killed out here every week . . . and he is right, of course. The crazies are out there. Didn't think it would do much good to tell him I'm a safety freak that has survived 40 years of riding. It was just bizarre that they were on Old Julian "Highway".

We looped through Cuayamaca and it was beautiful. That pine tree smell is heavenly.

It's always funny to see these types of posts and the replies by our brothers who are out there keeping our roads safe.
I have nothing but respect for LEOs and often defend them when idiots go off about "cops" in general. A close personal friend of 20 years is CHP. He was interviewing with city cops and the sherrif's department when I encouraged him to look into the CHP because they are so professional. Now he has about 15 years with the CHP.

Screw LEOs!!!!

Just a bunch a oinkers trying to deprive us of our hard-earned freedoms and liberty!!!

I always carry a donut with me. I present it to said LEO upon contact, and that seems to distract him from why he stopped me.

:p
