So I was toodling down Franklin from Evans City toward Mars and enjoying the fact there were no cars on the road in front of me... may have been enjoying that fact a little too much as I ended up scraping pavement with my right can. It was a bit disconcerting as I scraped it hard enough to lighten the rear tire and left a nice flat spot right on the front edge of the can.. :angry2:

This was really all my fault as I wasn't moving my butt off the seat. I was leaning in but I didn't think I was moving so fast that I needed to actually hang.

My question is... Are the Two Brothers cans larger than the stock cans? When I bought the bike it had them on it and I kind of like how they sound but I'm wondering if they are limiting my lean.

If it touched before the footpeg then it's different, or at least in a different place, from the stock cans. Not that I'm any kind of peg-scraping expert, but the guy I bought my bike from was, and the Holeshots are unmarked while the peg feelers are about half their original thickness.

All bets are off, though, if any adjustment to ride height has been made. If the bike's been lowered the cans may end up being the first hit in a good lean.

Peg touched too... but I expected that and have touched pegs multiple times. This was the first time I touched a can though. No ride height adjustments.

Maybe you went just that little bit further, peg, then can. That's how it works on the stock bike, the can is next if you go past the peg touching.

Okay, cool. I will simply have to pay more attention to my early warning system (peg feelers) then. I developed a tendency to just move my foot up and let the peg fold on my VTX. That damn thing would scrape pegs on a sweeper.

I have been on a peg to the point that it started to fold up but still didn't touch anything else.

Pretty sure I was letting the peg fold like I did on my VTX. That used to get me several more degrees of lean off that cruiser and I never touched the cans on it. Playing monkey on the cruiser was more difficult than on the FJR... I will just not let the peg fold on the FJR anymore and use it as a "get your *** off the seat" indicator now.

Maybe it's my big *** feet (size 14 boots) or maybe it's my riding position but I've found I scrape my boots well before I scrape my pegs (haven't scraped the pegs yet because the boots are kind of disconcerting)

If you look close at my avatar you can see a poorly placed foot on the right side. After I ruined that pair f boots I adjusted my footing and now try to tuck in. I also only have size 9s!

If I didn't ride with my toes on the pegs in corners, I'd be nailing my toes in nearly every corner. Gotta get them feet up in the corner. I'm also thinking that the OP must have had the rear shock quite compressed to nail the front edge of his muffler.

I remember quite some time back someone here talking about taking his FJR on a track day. He reported that they told him to dial it back because his cans were nearly on the ground, and he was basically using the peg feelers. Apparently (again, I am not the expert here :D ) there's not a lot of distance between peg-scrape and can-scrape.

Could be... It was a "scooped" twisty... So I came down into the curve and exited uphill.

Looks like me, but on my LEFT foot. Since I don't need to shift I just hang that damn toe out there. Scares the crap outta me every time I scrape!!

I just bought a set of 2 Bro's and I hope I don't have this issue. I do know however that the M5 cans are a little bigger than stock. I got the M2 cans for this reason. Do you know which cans you have? This might be the issue. When you are at that lean angle just a little difference in can size makes a big difference in ground clearance.

On my last trip to the "dragon" I scraped the right can as well. I do have to place the boots with the toes on the pegs or the boots get it. I still have not figured out how to tuck my leg, in order not to get my goot cought, and hang off to get more clerance.

Not sure if they are M2 or M5.... ?
