Hi Guys

Had a little problem today and find now that the screen only auto retracts when it feels like it when the key is turned off. I know some of you disable the auto retract but i prefer mine retracting when i turn the key off. Could this be an ignition switch issue as the auto kicks in when the key is turned off. I'm not sure where to start looking. Also, for your information the retract oterwise works fine when adjusted manually,no strange noises or anything. The bike is a 05 model.

Mine does the same thing and I have an 03. It use to work when the bike was warmed up good in the summer, but now it dosen't retract at all when the ignition is turned off, otherwise it works fine. It has not bothered me, but if it would be an easy fix I probably would do it.

Sounds like the auto-retract connector is corroded.

This link should show you where it is.

I had that problem (?) on my '04 and got down in there and cleaned up the electrical connections and lubed the machinery with silicone spray. Works fine now, and I wish I'd disabled it while I had it apart. But I was afraid something was about to go haywire and cause a fire. Anyway, it's a simple matter to disable the auto-retract just by cutting that jumper wire. Then you also have a hot lead for any farkles you might want controlled through the ignition switch.

Took the panel off under the screen on the front of the FJR and found the wires/connectors concerned. The auto retract connector was pulled apart by myself and was all clean, sprayed with silicone and put back together and still the same. Also saw under there the cable/connector there with yellow outer around it and also pulled apart sprayed with silicone and connected back up.Guess what????? Still the same,no retract with the key off. I think i'll have a look at the wiring diagram.
