Hell Don, why didn't you say something? I'll go pick up your bike for you. I'll even take it to Florida to see Walt and maybe kick Howie in the apple sack. With a new '13 FJR, I should be able to out run him.

Well according to the Brit ()...this is never gonna happen, so don't hold your breath he says.

I say it's gonna happen, just because His Irishness doesn't want to let the Brit get the better of him. :D

+1, Gunny; there is of course the Fenian versus Pommie rivalry, but I have seen Fairlaner's 2013 in person at Andy and Jill's house and it is a truly fecking beautiful motorcycle!

Got my deposit check out in 12/1's mail, so tomorrow I'll call Renaa in the PM to make sure she received it. Contemplating claiming the February bike and using a trailer to get it home.

Wheatie or Southerners, do you have any idea what weather conditions are like in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and East Texas in late February? Icy road conditions at that time?

https://classic.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Cullman&1s=AL&1y=US&1l=34.17437&1g=-86.843452&1v=CITY&2c=Houston&2s=TX&2y=US&2l=29.76045&2g=-95.369781&2v=CITY With a break in the weather, I could ride to Houston to get my 600 mile service done. Would need a recommendation of a trustworthy shop there.

Pommie: A derogatory word used to refer to a Brit, derived from the acronym POME (Prisoner of Mother England). Oi, that Pommie ******* stole all me chips.

Congratulations Don -

I'm just always thrown by the thought of heading to the garage and having to spend time deciding if I should ride the K16? No, maybe the FJR? But then which FJR? Maybe the dirt bike? Naw, just the FJR? If the new one, I'll need the new jacket, right? But which gloves? Hmmm, can't be seen in what mi amigos are wearing right? Lessee, when was the last time the tires were checked? Maybe I should swing by the dealer and schedule. . . . . . . . .

According to the route you have chosen, the part of Louisiana you will be covering has little to no chance of icing. You may well get into a cold rain, but very little chance of snow or ice. I am located about 3 minutes off I-10 just east of Baton Rouge. If you need a place to hide from the weather or any other sort of help, let me know. I would be more than happy, in fact almost honored if I could help you in some way.

How much personal information can you post up in one thread. Name, address signature, phone number... You trying make it that easy to steal your identity? What your mother's maiden name?

Exactly what I was thinking.
And we know he banks at Chase. We can get a routing number easily.

Brother Don. Im asking you as a friend to take down the image of your letter. I have personally seen worse things happen with less information. Please note my username.

Will do, Dan!

Its too late.....you should have read the letter he wrote to BMW complaining about their customer service and parts availability for his K1600GT. His name, picture, address, and phone number is now posted on every out house wall between Arizona and Germany...and its not a flattering picture because it looks just like him.

I barely escaped with my life from Hans und Dieter of BMW Motorraden Berlin Central, luckily I'm a great shot with a Luger. Hans und Dieter are so damn sensitive, Krauts!

Many thanks for this excellent local information and your PM offering your assistance to me, You are a Great Guy Redfish and I thank you most sincerely! Yours, Don S.

You are quite welcome. For such a worthy cause, I have a moral obligation to step up. From my driveway it took me exactly 22 hours to reach Tucson on I-10 with my truck. I drove straight through the night but was slowed by the demands of my wife and 8 year old son. I did not take full advantage of the higher speed limits of west Texas because it was nighttime and I did not wish to modify the front of my GMC with a deer.

If you are truly a great shot with a Luger, you are better than I am. Those ridiculously shaped sights and horrible trigger squeeze make it impossible for me to do any decently accurate shooting with that pistol.

Congrats Mr *******, Sir! ;)

Didn't read all the posts so don't know if your mentioned it, but I'm hoping to see you on it at CFR in June! :D

El Jefe, due to there being 4 of us the Stanley-Monkhouse clan will be arriving at CFR in June in our Jeep Liberty. Don, Seth, Rhianna and Donna.

Unless of course I find a BMW M3/Audi A4 convertible I just have to have first, but I am spending money like a drunken Irishman this year (figures!).

According to mapquest it is 7 hours/454 miles from D&H in Cullman to my (wife's) driveway. The local dealer is Friendly Yamaha in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.https://www.friendlyyamaha.com/index.htm

We bought Dad's FJR from them, they rebuilt it after he crashed it, we have had very good service from them so far. Of course, if it can go wrong...When the time comes I can set things up so that they understand the importance of getting it done in a timely fashion.

If you would like to get the service done closer to the 600 mile mark I can try to locate one a little farther west.
