SE Ohio instead of NERDS?

BTW, please don't read more into what I said than what I said. NERDS is hoot! It's definitely worth the trip. It's just that a vacation for me is about the riding, the socializing is secondary. Sorry, it's the truth. I'm pretty sure we took in some of the best that VT has to offer last year. I'd really love to see it in the fall. Regardless, I'll see most of you at EOM (reminds me, I'd better book my hotel!)

Treacherous NERDS traitor! I declare NERD Jihad on your sorry ***!
So...I assume that means you're not riding with us in SE Ohio then?
Not in the cards this year, Wheatie. KrZy8 still down and out - as much as I love Wabs, ain't going x-country on a 650..

BTW, this warrants a cigar, too. Fred W, BigOgre, Canadian FJR ..... pack an extra for me, please?

Oh yeah, there will be some extra cigars in Vermont. But FYI that CanadianFJR fella is on the Canucky defector list too.

Nothing to do with riding the superior roads of SE Ohio, he just isn't going to be able to make it anywhere that week.

FWIW, if the gauge of a great time is how smooth the roads are, and how fast you can ride them, then nobody is going to be very happy riding in VT this year. '

Cause they aren't smooth. Nope. Still wicked scenic, oh yes. Interesting for sure. They've been beat up by Hurricane Irene and there are still a lot of temporary bridges and repairs ongoing.

But, if you of a mind to want to hang out and ride around with some great people in some beautiful scenery, and have a great party at the end of the day, NERDS is where you want to be, guaranteed. We're gonna have us a good time.
Yep! The closer NERDS is on the timeline the more I miss not being back there.

We got BungieHoleBob on the run! :yahoo:

Me thinks he's just pissy that Yamafitter ran off and left us to our own devices of looking at beautiful young wimmen parading around a swimming hole whilst wearing little skimpy bikinis and showing off tons o' nice flesh.. hey now, Bungie, when DO we ride again? :p

First off, theirs a buncha **** disturbers here that read into, and replied to something I never said. Not running, just clarifying it.

As for the rest...

Hum... what's got Don's attention.

Ya, I bet that's it.

Thanks to the two bimbo's who stopped and took the pic for us.

Knowing when you arrived at NERDS last year and which routes you took, I'm pretty sure you missed quite a bit. But that is neither here nor there. If you think you've BTDT, then that is what it is.

And many of the NE folks that attend NERDS won't be able to go to EOM. It's one of the reasons we decided to organize a NE get together in the summer each year. Because there were enough people that wanted to do a get together, but who couldn't (or didn't want to ride south 1000 miles to) get to EOM every September. We chose the heat of August so it wouldn't conflict with any other established groups timing. Because we didn't want to cannibalize someone else's organization work.

**** disturbers? Really? I've tried to stay out of this, but just can't hold back anymore.

I'd bet that any hard feelings just might have something to do with the title of this thread. It might be considered just a tad callous of someone to openly suggest that folks should drop out of the NERDS event that has been in the planning for the past 9 months to go ride in SE Ohio with you instead.

But I'm probably just too close to it to see it objectively, right?

Well, if you attend NERDS and want to enjoy southeast Ohio, they are close enough to eachother that you can leave NERDS on Sunday morning and be in southeast Ohio Sunday evening. I mean, why restrict yourself to one rally at a time? :D

You know... If someone (or a small group of volunteer someones) organized a group event in that there SE Ohio area, they might be able to get quite a few FJR people to show up. Not like a handful of studs camping and burning their tires off all day, but more like an EOM clone kind of thing, (but clearly not in September.)
Something like the SE Ohio Ramble?

Fred you need to bring some cigars and come to the next one.

Well, having only set up a loose gathering or two, I can only imagine the effort that Fred goes through to organize the NERDS event...so I can see things through Fred's eyes.

That being said, I know Bungie's intents are good and that he doesn't really mean to siphon off attendance from NERDS. Reading between the lines, I think he was just posting up that if anyone WASN'T going to NERDS, then maybe join him for a ride in SE Ohio. It just didn't look so nice on the title to the thread.

I think it is pretty clear from past attendance lists that NERDS is very popular and a must attend event. Hopefully, Louanne and I will make it up in a summer or two. (As if it matters, next summer we're going Southwest to Bryce, Zion, etc)...so it's probably on our docket after that since she has expressed interest in "going to the Northeast".

Anyways, the NERDS event is great. Why Bungie would want to ride Ohio is beyond me. ;)

Oh, don't get me wrong. I fully understand Steve's intent here. When we have limited vacation time we each have to make choices that fit our own personal agendas. It was just an unfortunate choice of words for the title I suppose. If there had been no mention of NERDS, just a proposal to ride SE Ohio in August, nobody would have thought twice.

Hopefully we can just let this little turbulent water pass under the bridge and everyone has a great time wherever they choose to go this August.

After all, that is what it's all about right?

Also, FWIW, we have some tentative plans to make a month long 2-up adventure out West next summer too. Make-up for the trip we couldn't make this summer to NAFO, I guess. So hopefully some of the other NERDS will continue on with our summer tradition in New England (somewhere). It is a tradition after 2 years, right? ;)

Maybe the admins will let him change the Title? Everybody here has good intentions, except for me, I like to cause trouble.

I think Steve has enough posts on this board to change his own title.

As far as your intentions...they didn't keep you from getting covered with ticks in 100 degree heat in a ditch in Indiana. Man that still creeps me out.

:D
