NERDS was/is great, good riding, stuff to see, great peeps.

But. Given my limited vacation days I need to make the most of them. As much as I liked Vermont, SE Ohio is just much better riding, and most importantly for me, about the same riding distance.

So I'm just throwing this out there. Is anybody interested in riding SE Ohio (Caldwell) instead of NERDS? It doesn't have to be the same weekend. Though I'm hoping one weekend this month I'll be taking the Lee Parks Total Control Class Part 2. They just haven't committed to offering the course yet.

I can arrange this for any weekend in August, except for the one mentioned above (when/if they offer it), and, this weekend (I'm not crossing the border on a long weekend!)

Hey Bungie! Kind of early to be PWI, isn't it ?

In your state of vacation angst, you're momentarily missing the point here. NERDS is a G.R.O.U.P ride. In addition to the great roads / riding, there are the Parking-Lot Socials every evening <where we Do Stuff> that you won't get In SE Ohio

You're forgiven (maybe) :p

Treacherous NERDS traitor! I declare NERD Jihad on your sorry ***!

Steve is just in a snit because his date Bust isn't going to NERDS. The ride through Detroit, Toledo and Cincinnati (or Buffalo and Pittsburgh) on the way to SE Ohio will surly be better than the ride through the Adirondacks, along the Saint Lawrence Seaway or Lake Champlain on the way to NERDS. Guess the MEM will have to pick it up for you Canucks and drink Steve's share as well :p

I like the way you think, Professor ;) (should be easy - Steve's such a girl)

BTW, this warrants a cigar, too. Fred W, BigOgre, Canadian FJR ..... pack an extra for me, please?

SE Ohio? There's nothing there...
Been there done that. Nothing there.
Okay I'm busted. I lost the little cap off my GPS lock screw dealie. I know it's it in the parking lot in Caldwell. Friggen Garmin probably wants $2 or something for it! Well FECK THEM. I'll ride the flat, straight, stay-away land just on principle!

Oh yeah, there will be some extra cigars in Vermont. But FYI that CanadianFJR fella is on the Canucky defector list too.

Nothing to do with riding the superior roads of SE Ohio, he just isn't going to be able to make it anywhere that week.

FWIW, if the gauge of a great time is how smooth the roads are, and how fast you can ride them, then nobody is going to be very happy riding in VT this year. '

Cause they aren't smooth. Nope. Still wicked scenic, oh yes. Interesting for sure. They've been beat up by Hurricane Irene and there are still a lot of temporary bridges and repairs ongoing.

But, if you of a mind to want to hang out and ride around with some great people in some beautiful scenery, and have a great party at the end of the day, NERDS is where you want to be, guaranteed. We're gonna have us a good time.

Someday, wifey and I will head to New England...after riding through SE Ohio and the Finger Lakes on the way.
OOooOOoohhHHhh Finger Lakes! Sometime I need to find a few days and get back there. <7 hrs from my neighborhood. Maybe pick up some Green Mountains and some Catskill Mountains on the way.

You know... If someone (or a small group of volunteer someones) organized a group event in that there SE Ohio area, they might be able to get quite a few FJR people to show up. Not like a handful of studs camping and burning their tires off all day, but more like an EOM clone kind of thing, (but clearly not in September.)

Or you could just continue to hog it all for yourselves. :p

You goofy jackwagon.. Why you wanna even suggest an alternative to NERDS? For fuks sakes! The heat must be bad up that way..

Ohio? Not sure about Ohio . . but I just got back from a West Virginia ride with a Yamaha Venture group and plan on taking the FJR back on the same route . . . some impressive roads and routes through the mountains of WV . . .
