Glad it turned out as good as it did, without personal injury or a murder. Police and emergency personnel don't ask civilians to perform traffic control just for the very reason this a-hole demonstrated. To think about it, this turd caused an accident while trying to warn people not to have an accident farther up the road. 100% fail. Hope it all gets sorted out with a quick and positive outcome!
Exactly right!
Gunny THAT!

Looks like a great trip..... curious if you have a rough route that you took.... We are over here on the east side of WI..... great looking scenery....

What camera and how is it mounted ???

I'd like setup a rig for similar pics, ease of removal, takes decent pics and weather resistant....

Last trip out, I found it was a huge pain to keep stopping to take out the big SLR....

Wouldn't mind the ability to mount a small camera up front and reach over, push the button to snap a pic...

As Promised before a Roadside Strip Tease. Cue the Music Gerald, Fred, and Top Speed....... Zilla will certainly say that Beemerdon has a private collection of these photos.

The "Boudoir Photos" of Marty are $15 for 8 by 10 Glossies, $10 for the 5 by 7 Matte Finish and the DVD format Video of 0face and HotRodZilla together is $30; shipping is included! jes' sayin' and nuff said, RACY!

Marty, Griff, and Gramps would have the GPS files and routes. Those guys are GPS wizards. I bet they have routes saved. I only have locations of where my iPhone tagged the pictures. And we rode so many different roads I would be grossly inaccurate. Plus it was my first time up there. I don't really even use GPS except for general directions. On my western trip I put in a destination where I had to be and just kept the "big pink line" up for a reference.
I have 2 X grips mounted to the bars. One on the right holds the GPS when I use it. It has an arm that puts it below the important stuff on the cluster. I would figure it covers the sight lines of the ignition key and bottom of the tach and speedo. The one on the left is where I mount the I phone 5. It is in an Otter box case. It is the Armor version. Yes I have dropped it hundreds of times and even off of a moving bike. It has been on here for 2 years. It will be replaced in February when I upgrade my phone.

I sometimes leave the camera mounted and just push the "button" to get in "flight" pictures or take video in the twisties. Sometimes I pull it out of the x grip and shoot over the screen and other shots. I have become adept at pulling it out and putting it back one handed.

This otter box was weatherproof for the first 18+ months. But now one of the seals is finished on the button side. I am super hard on phones and no way will I ever have one not in the best case Otter or a similar company make. It makes my phone huge, but safe.

The new phones have amazing cameras that 10 years ago would rival some of the good point and shoot ones.

I will try to find or get a pic of my set up later today. But it is not special in any way. But it might help someone.

I'm just going to say that the DVD is worth every penny.....hubba hubba!

Looks like I need to finish the report up.

Airboss was at the hotel when we got back from the ride. And like Airboss said, none of the guys beat me up for knocking one of them over. I would have been an easy mark at that point too. For that, I am grateful.

We all headed over to a local pub/burger place. It was okay. Maybe just okay because it was off peak season for places in the Dells

Marty is serious about his coffee and made up some again. Here is his set up. Quite impressive and packable.

I love the smell of coffee, but do not like the taste of most Unless it is basically hot chocolate like.

I just don't have too many pictures after the crash. It kinda sucked the ride report right out of me. We all made plans to ride back and I had the furthest distance for sure. 350 miles of slab home was not looking great. I planned to take some of the back roads. The call of the barn was pulling on me. My thought was to set the GPS for home but just use it as a general guide.

We headed over to Stuffs again. Meal was fantastic again. We all headed off into different directions mostly. I headed south and Griff, Gramps, and O-Face looked like they were going west for a few more Letter roads. Airboss was going to meander back towards home. Looking back, I should have rode with him. I know the roads he took would have been good and I missed out on an opportunity to ride with another member.

I was a little surprised when the route I was taking ended in at a lake. Since I was just using the GPS as a general direction, I never thought to use the "avoid" feature. It put me on this ferry. Short route on the water by passed a long way around.

A very nice ride awaited and I had heard some good things about Devils Lake State Park. It was pretty much deserted. I had most of the road to myself and when I did not, passing was easy for the most part. I had plenty of time to think about running into the other rider the day before.

My conclusion was that I could have avoided it somehow if I had reduced speed quicker, or been sharper in my avoidance skills. While the Dude caused the chain of events to begin, we as cyclists have to be able to break the events that would transpire if we did not react correctly. If we don't, we are just willing to take whatever the consequences are for some of the dopes that are out there putting events into action. I made a conscious decision to improve my skills that day. Actual practice of maneuvers. I ought to know how to set up a practice plan so that is what I did. I am going to make sure some Ninja hiding, road hopping, clown is not going to ruin a great trip again. While I may not be able to avoid a future accident, it is not going to be because I did not practice.

Overall great time. Looking forward to getting another ride in. But here is where my baby is parked now.

Seems kinda mean for her to be crammed in over there.

I did get her out the other day and fixed the dented pipe. Here is the result with help from Allen C. He supplied the new Carbon Fiber Delkevics.

Or just bad camera work.

Thanks for letting go along Griff, Marty, Gramps, and Airboss.

Cav, I know this won't help you feel better, but at the last Stowe VT NERDS weekend we had two different occasions where someone caused a domino type tip-over chain reaction. At least you only were involved with just 1 motorcycle, at NERDS it was multiple motorcycles both times (different people caused the incidents).

My brother who has been destitute most of his life had saved and saved for a new motorcycle. Almost immediately after he got it a friend of mine rear ended/side swiped him at a highway crossing. It took my friend quite a while to get over causing the accident.

Nice ride report! The spontaneous special effects your camera produced added character to the pictures

Thanks for the RR!

My guess regarding the crash is that a little more following distance may have helped...you never know, just my guess.

In any event, I'm glad no one was injured. I've been down before and it ain't fun...you really start doubting yourself. The main thing is that you learn what you can and move one. As long as full restitution to the injured party has been completed, it's all good.

Glad you guys had a great end of season ride.

I know not of what you speak...

Enjoyed the "rest of the story". And I got a great idea for hanging my saddle bags in the shop, too.

Coolio!

Good Deal!!

My garage is smallish and with Mama's Sequoia (she had an Odyssey) in the garage, the FJR had to get smaller.

I have lots of space saving ideas in my garage as a result. Maybe that should be another complete thread on its own.

Enjoyed the report . As always any accident is not a good thing , but in the same breath when everyone is still walking after the fact is its own blessing . Glad to see all parties fine .

This was a great ride report. I enjoyed it very much. I felt your pain when you spoke of the accident. At least no one was hurt and you still have friends ;-0

I was telling Jim that this ride had everything that we would look for in a ride.....

Lot's of fun with friends,

good riding,

good coffee,

good food,

icecream!

and a clean, affordable hotel.

I wish we could have been on this one :)
