I'm of like mind with all the Dick opinions. Found myself in front of a TV for an hour this morning though and was amazed at how hard ESPN tried to keep showing him in a good light. Ya think the NFL made any "suggestions"??

Btw, Belichick took the high road again this morning, didn't he?

A minor gripe: Mostly everybody saying the teams are "off to New York for the Super Bowl". Of course, no NFL teams play in New York - It's New Jersey. This particular area was once a popular retirement site for La Cosa Nostra

The NY/NJ riff has been going on since the Joe Morris, Bill Parcels Super Bowl days. The Meadowlands is only a (45cal) 2-par hole away from Manhattan

Most north-easterners consider Northeastern Jersey an extension of the festering sore New York ******. But New York does have a football team. I know they are easy to forget, the Buffalo Bills.
At least when the Pats moved from playing at Fenway and Nickerson Field to their own stadium way out (23 miles south on Rt 1) in Foxboro they were smart enough to change their name from the Boston Patriots, to the New England Patriots.

Hmmm... come to think of it. The Festering Sore Giants and Jets. That does have a ring to it.

Personally I wish they'd had done the same thing here. You're playing in Jersey, say so! Hell, if the Nets could move a few miles over the county line and re-brand themselves, surely a move out of state warrants the same.

And btw Fred, few here consider NJ an extension of NY. Lol, just ask our current governor the next time you see him on the GWB!

Let's just say that he and Wes have some history and don't see eye to eye on much. It was a ****** play. And yes, like looking at the opposing sideline to try and steal play calls, they all do it.

Richard Sherman is a DICK!
OK, now read a national opinion from somebody that does not have skin in the fight. 22 Brief thoughts about that Richard Sherman interview published on Forbes.com

That being said, I agree that Richard was over the top, but I seriously doubt his comments were not without thought or purpose. I think he wants to be the lighting rod to keep the media focus off of his teammates that don't handle it too well over the next two weeks leading up to the superbowl. I am also sure that his comments were a direct response to something that Crabtree either said to him on the field, tweeted, or said in some other media outlet.

Yep, read that this morning. Very interesting viewpoints. I still think he's a dick though.

I guess it's the 100% opposite of being modest. I prefer to root for and/or follow guys who are more modest and take winning (or losing) in a respectful decent human being kinda way. Seeing your location (WA) justifies your fanhood and I'm glad (I guess?) you or others want to stick up for him (local columnist too).

Right now he thinks he's invincible, wonder what a couple of TD's against him would do. I'm thinking (in life) it would be good.

Yep, forgot about them. But even they play some one of their home games out of state (well, out of country, actually), in Toronto. And none of them are actually played in Buffalo!

(Must be a NY thang. All three of the "NY" football teams do not play home games in the cities they are named for)

Kinda true Fred. But Orchard Park and even 1 more town south of that yet (Hamburg) are all encapsulated as basically suburbs of Buffalo. It takes 15-20min to get to downtown Buffalo (on a good day). 20A to 219 to 90 then to 190 and you're in. Done it many of times, probably could do it blind folded.

We take my camper to at least one Bills game a year. Stay overnite in the parking lot, BBQ and drink with plenty of great peeps (+Canadians eh?). Being so close, my family is/are Bills fans, I'm not so sure how I got the Purple Blood in me but I still enjoy the game experience and mostly the people I meet.

And as I said before there is probably more to this story than just what was on TV. I am not defending his actions, because I don't agree with them.

But I also don't think the criticism is deserved when you know the back story if you choose to actually read about it. Then again it is easier to just say he is a dick for some. You can start here with Sporting News article or here in his column for Monday Morning Quarterback. It all stems from a charity event incident in Phoenix back in the off season when Crabtree tried to start a fight with Sherman. Since Crabtree is not disputing it, I tend to think that Sherman's account of what happened is probably pretty accurate.

Up here we all think Colin Kaepernick is a punk and a thug. I am pretty sure SF doesn't think that about him. That is based on the way he presents himself to the media - cap on backwards, not dressed well for the media interviews after the game. Russell Wilson by comparison is always showered and in a suit dressed well before he talks with the media after the game.

Again I don't like what he did, because it took away from what the team accomplished.

my $.02 for what it is worth

Oh, I get that. It's only 7 miles from the Meadowlands to New York City via the Lincoln tunnel. That part of Jersey is a suburb of Manhattan, too. But all the other teams (not in red) in my list above actually play in the limits of the geography that they are named for.

Well it was a close entertaining game. Some bad calls but most games do have that and SF just couldn't close the deal.

Congrats to the Hawks and we hope you get your arse kicked by Denver.
