Has anyone tried the factory gel seat? Is it worth the money and what are some of the other alternatives in the Los Angeles Area?

Gel = retained heat. Heat in seat in heat = butt pain. Go custom: Bill Mayer (Ojai) or Russell (Lake Shasta, I think).

I agree, nothing beats a custom made seat. You have one of the more famous custom seat builders in your backyard (Bill Mayer), make a ride-in appointment and feel the difference.

I agree. I tried the gel seat and it's not much better than stock. It's also very hot.

That being said, it did make an excellent seat while stock seat was at Russell.

Since I put the Russell on (2000 miles ago) I have not had butt pain or burn or what ever you want to call it. Last weekend I rode 1000 miles in 3 days, and never once did my arse hurt. :yahoo:

Gel seat, little better, hot = around 300.00

Russell custom, much better, no butt pain = priceless

My .02 worth; A.C.
