.......Im kinda leaning towards the Corbin seat because of the price and looks, but I notice a lot of Corbin seats have been listed for sale on here which leads me to believe that people get them and don’t like them. ....... Thanks.

Question... does your butt have eyes? If not then why consider a seat because of looks.? Do you ride your bike or sit and stare at it? I won't ever consider a Corbin based on my experience with them on other bikes. There's a reason you find many for sale and they don't sell fast.

I've had Sargeant very good, Laam built for me, very very good and an RDL that wasn't built for me but is just fantastic. Seats are subjective, what one guy loves another may hate.

Just my 2 cents.

Completely agree! There's a strong chance that what's right for you is ONLY right for you!!

I tend to think that the ones with the best chance of success are those made for YOU and in that respect, I think you guys in the US probably have more choice than here in the UK. Sargent make what Sargent make and if is works for you, that's fine but there's no 'tweaking' if it's not quite right. I've been told that Top Sellerie are now coming from China so that's bad to hear.

I've got an ARSE (Andy Swan) seat on my bike and that's still in the 'settling in' period but the one I really wanted to try was CM Seats Bladerunner (the black bike) - I just couldn't be without my bike for ten days while they made one - but there's a lot of thought and construction goes into what CM do and I may end up with one yet!

I didn’t buy my seat because it looks good. I designed it be that way. I liked it because of the custom choices that top sellerie offered for me and reviews that I have read. Plus the price was cheaper than other seats that I could buy. Didn’t care it took a month to get it as I have another bike to ride.

I'm a Sargent fan. Beware, the Corbin only works in the lowest position so if you have long legs that may not work. They are firm. I like firm versus soft. I'm long legged so the Sargent works well for me and gives me plenty of room to move around front to back.

Does the Sargent seat add height vs the stock seat?

Someone mentioned that Corbin seats are firm, that folks don't wait to break them in. Got my Corbin and went to Corbin in Hollister, CA where they custom fit my seat. Really fun to watch.

Another vote for Russell. My bike came with a Corbin and I've had Corbin seats on other bikes that I liked but I found the Corbin on the FJR was too low and not adjustable. I tried a bunch of options: sheepskin on stock/Corbin, Gel pad on stock/Corbin, Airhawk on stock/Corbin but finally bit the bullet on a Russell about 7 years ago and never looked back. The Corbin looked great on the FJR, the Russell not so much but I don't look at the seat when I'm riding.

Seats are like windshields, there is no one answer for everyone.

Can someone give an opinion on a Gen 3 Yamaha comfort seat?
I picked one up used when I still owned my genII and decided that it was a significant improvement over the stock seat. It's prettier too. I'm sure others will attest to what ever their fave is and, I guess I am doing the same. The only two seats I have experienced on my FJRs are the original and the Yamaha comfort seat. It is a nice improvement but, there may be something even better out there; they're certainly more expensive!

Reminds me of a comment on the other FJR forum: 'nobody ever changed the stock seat and made things worse...'!!!

Thanks for all the replies. I had an RDL on a GoldWing that was the best seat I ever had but it came on it used. My 2013 FJR I bought used 3 years ago came with a Corbin that I can't tolerate any more. So to get an RDL I have to buy a used seat set to send them, the adjuster plate, and front seat adjuster. That's $1300. to change to a RDL on a 10 year old bike that could be discontinued any year but I guess that's my problem. Everyone wants $250. up for a set of OEM seats, plus shipping. I've owned 11 different street bikes in the last 23 years and have bought aftermarket seats for several but the worst seat I ever had on any was the stock Gen 2 FJR. Whew! What a board! I love FJRs and have had Gen 1, 2, and 3. If I have to move on to something else it will probably be a DCT. Thanks again.

I decided to go with the “performance plus” seat from Sargent. Current promo
code offers 16% off and it looks like they offer a good return policy if it comes to that. I figure spend the $423 first and if it doesn’t work out return it and shell out the 800 or so for the RDL.

Had to laugh at this. I’ve owned over 20 bikes in my life and the seat on my 2011 is the most uncomfortable of them all by far!

Which is shocking, right? I can't be alone on this, but a Sport Touring bike of this caliber (and cost) should already come equipped with a reasonably comfortable seat... blows my mind TBH, so now I have to spend another $1500 CAD to get a decent seat for my 280LBS butt? Pfft. /rant

When you're a hunnert lbs less the stock seat is comfortable as hell!
