Harald, try pairing the Zumo to the Sena with "mobile phone pairing". Music from the Zumo should sound good again. Then pair the phone to the Sena with "phone selective paring". Should work for calls OK. Music from the phone will probably be poor quality. I think this will get you what you're looking for.

Try adjusting the volume of each device when each device is transmitting, i.e., you're on a phone call or when the Zumo is playing your music. Hope this helps.

Finally got a chance to dink around some more with the connections. I found a website that explained it in a slightly different manner than the Sena manual: https://www.rka-luggage.com/A69%20My%20BLOG/SENA%20story%20Two/2_case%20Study%20TWO.html . I used Case Study Three to connect my LG G3 cell phone and my Garmin Zumo 660 to the Sena SMH10 per those instructions except they mis-typed the procedure for the HFP for phone button names on the Sena. It should say "Press the Jog button for 5 seconds......" and "Within 2 seconds press the Phone Button, then ...."

It's going to be annoying not having the caller ID on the Zumo, but I'll just have to deal with it until it's time to upgrade to the Zumo 590 which I hear doesn't have the crappy cell phone audio problem (probably because it has a faster processor). I'd also like to upgrade to the Sena 10c with built in camera, but am going to wait until they hopefully fix the recording method to allow for looping which would create a dashcam that will always have the last couple hours recorded.

This is the way I understand it should go, too. BUT, when I try to connect my Zumo 660LM with "mobile phone pairing" the Zumo says, "Passkey is 1234," and there's no way to enter a passcode on the Sena.

Now, that's with the Zumo attempting to pair as a "Phone". The Zumo can also attempt to pair as "Audio". (These options are available on the Settings-Bluetooth page, along with Bluetooth Enabled/Disabled and Friendly Name.)

First I cleared out all Bluetooth connections on all three devices: GPS, phone, Sena.

I've connected with Zumo as "Phone" and -- separately -- as "Audio", with these combinations:

1) Sena in "Mobile Phone Pairing", (Sena manual, section 5.1),

2) Sena in "Bluetooth GPS Navigation Pairing", (section 5.4, HFP only), and,

3) Sena in "A2DP Stereo Music Only", (section 6.1).

None of those combinations get me music from the Zumo. I know the music is playing, because the counter is counting up and headphones directly to the Zumo have music.

This is driving me NUTS. I get so frustrated with devices that don't behave how I want them to.

This is how mine is setup from these directions:

" I spent a bit of time playing with my audio setup tonight. I think we have the same priorities, but they might be slightly different depending upon how you want the phone to work. My favored setup at the moment is:

Valentine 1 <-> Remote Audio Adapter <-> SM10 Aux Port

iPhone 6+ < Bluetooth > Zumo 590 < Audio Out Jack > SM10 Music Port

iPhone 6+ < Bluetooth > Sena 20S

SM10 < Bluetooth > Sena 20S

I'm using media selective pairing to pair the 20S with the SM10 and phone selective pairing to pair the 20S with the iPhone. On the Zumo 590, I select Media and Apps but leave Phone deselected on the bluetooth settings.

This gives me Radar, except for during phone conversations. It does work during intercom conversations using the audio multitasking feature of the 20S. With the SMH10, you'd lose radar audio in during intercom conversations in addition to during phone calls.

iPhone audio comes through and GPS voice instructions interrupt the iPhone audio. The one thing that doesn't work here that I'd like is if the Zumo paused the iPhone audio during a voice instruction and then un-paused it when the voice instruction was done. The Zumo media controls work to play/pause select audio from the iPhone.

By pairing the phone to the 20S using phone selective pairing, I'm trading off the ability to dial and see incoming caller id on the Zumo for the ability to use Siri. For me, the iPhone is mounted on the bars and lights up when someone calls so I'm good with this. I've also read a lot of complaints about call audio quality using a Zumo in the middle of the phone and headset. I'm not sure how many of these applied to the 590 vs. other devices since I'm not that interested in the calling features of the device.

The one spot that this setup seems to be weird lies in the USB port on the 590. I haven't completely narrowed down what the cause is but the 590 has the ability to perform media functions on an iPhone or iPod using the USB port. If the iPhone gets connected this way, the SmartLink features won't work because they only work over bluetooth. Unplugging the iPhone for a second to allow it to connect over bluetooth and then plugging the charger back in seems to remove the issue but to completely solve it, I'll probably just not use the charging port on the 590.

I think this configuration gives you everything that you were looking for. If you pick up a 20S, you'll gain the ability to hear all of the audio routed through the SM10 during intercom conversations in addition to ambient noise mode. Other than that, the SMH10 works about the same."

Hope this helps,

I still haven't tried to pair things up. Every time I think I'm going to try it something more entertaining comes up. I figure if I whine enough at one of our gatherings somebody will get tired of it and do it for me.

After much irritation and frustration, I accidentally got things to work!

Paired the Zumo as per "mobile phone pairing" (sect 5.1) then pushed the Sena's phone button instead of the jog dial to pair the iPhone as "second mobile phone". I think it works as desired; haven't tried enough phone manipulations to be 100% confident, but I voice dialed Aunt Kelly and had a pleasant conversation. Fingers crossed and THANK GOODNESS for serendipity.

This is important, because .... tomorrow we ride! (She'll be on her Suzuki SV650.)

To get the best music from the GPS, pair as mobile phone, and also audio settings in the GPS should be set to "GPS, Phone, MP3" if you have such option on the 660. If you're not getting music, chances are it is on "GPS" only. If you pair the phone through the GPS for phone calls, you can use the HFP pairing for something else (mono).

Don't count on it. 590/Android/20S here and calls sound crappy when running everything through the GPS as a hub. Like others have said, I like being able to control (and see) my phone's functions through the GPS and is one of the reasons I went with that unit. Read somewhere that using the USB connection from the 590 cradle to your phone clears things up but I haven't found that to be the case. I've spent hours reading various forums and threads and also wasted a good deal of time on the phone with Sena and it seems there's no answer for this.

But that's not what brought me to this thread.

For those of you pairing your GPS to the 20S as Mobil Phone 1, are you also able to use Sena's Smartphone Utility app? It seems that if I don't pair my Android to the 20S directly the app says my phone isn't connected and points me to my phone's BT settings. App has been reinstalled, User's Guide and Quik Guide works ok, and all functions between the GPS, phone and 20S are up and running. Haven't had much luck finding anything written about this and getting back on the phone with Sena just isn't appealing.

Motorcycle Bluetooth is a mess. Manufacturers pretend we don't need to know what is going on, and it appears their tech support doesn't know either.

I have an iPhone SE, Sena 20S, Garmin Zumo 595.

Linked the iPhone to the Sena, then the iPhone to the Zumo. Somehow the Zumo knows when the Sena is present. When the Zumo powers up and finds the iPhone it starts music playing. When the Sena powers up the music moves from iPhone speaker to Sena. The Zumo has music control over the iPhone and will mute music and intercom if the Zumo wants to speak. Unacceptable for Zumo to interrupt the intercom, Zumo is too chatty, humans are more important but I'm not given that option.

Furthermore, while the Zumo has control over the iPhone music it doesn't seem to be able to do anything useful with the phone function such as display incoming phone number or contact info. It can reach into my phone's music library, display album artwork, browse, everything, but it can't do anything with the phone? I haven't tried to originate a call via Zumo.

Its a mess. iPhone and Sena work fine together without Zumo so I suspect music is not being routed through the Zumo.

I have the SENA 20s and the following items paired and working as advertised:

Android phone paired using A2D2 for music and phone calls.

Tom TOM Rider paired as GPS for directions.

SENA SR 10 paired for CB Radio and weather band radio.

XM/Sirius Radio connecting to Sena 20s via FM

All these items are working great!!
