After all the years of doing all sorts of jobs in workshops I cant believe how easily this happened. I had been using a 9 inch grinder to cut off some bar whilst making a dolly (truck) to move the bike around on.
I had been grinding for maybe 30 seconds when I felt my elbow getting hot. The sparks were (I thought) travelling past my leg.
There was no other indication at all. I stopped and looked down to see my shirt ablaze and a hole in my jeans.
I beat it out without injury, I was wearing safety glasses, and I thought I was doing the job in a safe manner. The shirt was clean on and had not had any fluid spilled on it. I can only think it is something in the material that was highly flammable.
So easy for these things to happen. ( I went straight out and bought a leather apron).
