I wish I could take credit for the pelican box under the license plate farkle, however, I saw it years ago on another FJRForum member's (Jekirby's) bike in a picture he posted concerning a completely different topic.
A little research came up with the small case #1120. They have several colors to choose from, and of course you know that they are water tight with a Gore-Tex® vent. I was careful to find a first aid kit that was a close fit for the case. The first aid kit bag I ended up with appears to have been discontinued from Rider Wearhouse. If you plan to fit a bag in that spot I would suggest you find your bag first, then buy the case. Perhaps the next size up (#1150) might be a better size, it's a little wider and taller but would fit in this space quite well

Like I said, the license plate light needed to be extended. I accomplished that with a pair of long 6 mm bolts with nylon lock nuts on the under side of the fender. The black spacers are 1/4" fuel line slipped over the bolts. Be sure to put flat washers at either end of the fuel line. The electrical pigtail runs to the left side cover under the seat. I had to lengthen them to do this. Instead of butt splices, I opted to make an extension 3 inches long with matching butt connectors I had obtained from Eastern Beaver.
I also added 2 more bolts near the bottom of the case for rigidity. These were much shorter 6 mm bolts with matching 1/4" fuel line.
The inside of the box does have bolt heads protruding. I suppose the box could be lined with closed cell foam sheets to minimize the effects of the bolt heads abrading against the contents of the box. I never had that problem with my snug fit first aid kit bag. YMMV
As you can see the license plate gets secured on the outer face of the lid. Just remember to securely latch up before riding off. I'm on my 2nd first aid kit.
Hope this helps.
