****** IMPORTANT CHANGE IN HOTEL INFO *******
A member from the fjrowners forum had an issue with his reservation at the Best (Worst) Western. They had reserved AUGUST 28 & 29th instead of October 28th and 29th for him. When he didn't show up on Aug 28th they charged his card for one night rental. Then argued with him that he didn't "show up" and wouldn't refund his money.
Well, I had to go down to Clanton today register my "new to me" 08 FJR! Whoo hoo! Anyway, while I was down that way I stopped in to have a chat with these people at Best (Worst) Western. The moron behind the counter was very familiar with the situation, as he told me he was the one who the forum member had spoken to. I had a very stern discussion with him and made it clear that my recommendation to the group to stay at this hotel was very much in doubt now. The more I talked with this ***** the more my confidence level in this choice declined. I made it very clear to him that by stiffing someone out of one night rental he was jeopardizing 40+ nights of rental in late October. That didn't seem to bother him so by the time I walked out the door I had come to the conclusion this is not where our group needs to stay.
I have grappled with this decision all afternoon because I hate to throw (more) confusion into the mix, but I am changing the hotel recommendation to the Inn of Clanton.

I stopped in today at the Inn of Clanton and personally checked out the rooms. No frills, but clean, appeared comfortable and the price is right. They have a mini fridge in each room and the price includes breakfast from the breakfast bar at Shoney's Restaurant next door to the hotel. The price is $54 plus tax for a single and $62 plus tax for a double (they have to charge the extra $8 for the breakfast I suppose). The total with tax is $61.56 for a single and $70.68 for two people in a room.
PLEASE NOTE - You will need to call the hotel directly to make your reservations. You will need to tell them you are with the SFO Rally to receive the rates quoted above.
The hotel is located only 11 miles south of the Jemison exit where our evening events will be taking place. It will be a very convenient spot for us all to meet for breakfast each morning and start our rides from there. Those of us at the camping site can just make our way to the Shoney's each morning and meet those of you staying at the hotel. In the evening, we'll be able to shuttle you to the camp site for the evening festivities.
I will send a PM to those that have posted up saying they are planning on staying at a hotel and let them know. I am also going to try to edit out any prior post recommending the Best Western and I am going to edit the Hotel Info thread ---
