I've been reading about Rotella oil being used in this forum and in others and was wondering what fellow FJR riders think.
Thanks for your input.

I rotate my tires every 3k, but buy new ones every 6k, leave the oil for atleast 40k.. and I use WD40 on the chain ALWAYS.What??? I thought after the initial 600 mile oil change that the oil and filter were rated for 100k miles. Why would anyone waste their money changing perfectly good 40k mile oil??
No, no, no! You are supposed to change the air in the tires every 3K. With a fresh air change the tires last much longer. You can still rotate them every 6K.I rotate my tires every 3k, but buy new ones every 6k, leave the oil for atleast 40k.. and I use WD40 on the chain ALWAYS.
Oh I'm not worried, I can dish it out with the best of them.https://www.fjrforum....pic=120887&st=0 Brother Myke just ignore these whining, selfish, childish and bullying tools! Here is the definitive thread on Rotella T6 Oil prepared by the FJR Forum Guru on Rotella: Mister ShinyPartsUp of Roseburg, Oregon.
SPU has prepared an 11 page document outlining the superiority of Rotella T6 Oil, a simple private message to ShinyPartsUp will result in a copy of this treatise mailed to your door step immediately. SPU even cooks fried chicken in Rotella!
Dang Mikey, you do the craziest shit. Something else was wrong there. I've done hours of high rpm riding and never seen over 3 bars on my FJR.most everything you wanted to know about oil...toward the bottom is info about motorcycle oil

I've gotten tired in the mountains (riding south on the Moonshiners 28 for 130 miles) and my careless, high rpm riding for hours on end overheated the engine.
Eventually the clutch went away as I look down and have max hot temp gauge.
Pulled into the nearest turn off. Hissing and steaming when I parked it...I believe the Rotella full synthetic easily paid for itself that day.
30 minutes later all was well and riding a couple more hours to the hotel on straightaway roads and the rest of the trip, the bike was fine and normal.
mine moves from 3 to 4...mostly warm weather here...summer temps are 4 bars constantlyDang Mikey, you do the craziest shit. Something else was wrong there. I've also lost my cooling fan when doing slow riding and seen the blinking 6th temp bar telling me I was overheating. As soon as I got up to speed, greater than 50mph or so, the temp came right back down to normal. Even without the fan.
You had some issue going on. Maybe that POS synthetic Rotella was CAUSING your overheating!!!
Interesting. Same Gen I as you. Have been riding everyday in the 110+ temps of summer in Phoenix. The only time I see 4 bars is if I am stopped for a while.mine moves from 3 to 4...mostly warm weather here...summer temps are 4 bars constantly
(Gen 1 with 6 bar temp gauge)
twice...2 different engines...curvy mountain road...2nd gear lazy, no brakes, twist throttle to speed up, close throttle to slow down...over and over for a couple hours...bikey no likee after mile after mile in the hot of the afternoon, I guess
