Hey, I've been there!

This was our campsite in Linville Falls on the same trip. That's my good friend, Matt enjoying a beer under the makeshift rain shelter.

This is me and my buddy, Ricky, on the side of Table Rock, also on the same trip. I'm the guy wearing a shirt. :D

My feet, looking down from our rappel point. Damn, that was a fun trip.

Excellent looking pictures everyone! Hope to see more to come, share your shot from the bike picture :)

Lagerhead,

While getting to the top of Mount Mitchell..... We (TominCA, Fullhouse, and I) were given "verbal performance recognition" for our efforts while climbing up to the top.

The ranger had a very confused time figuring out who was who after getting up there and seeing the other bikes there.

There was no less than 8 FJRs up there. The best move was by TominCa. He just took his helmet and jacket off in the parking lot and started taking pictures and being a tourist.

No tickets issued. Double awesome is what Tom is saying here

Question time. I would be curious what kind of camera(s) are being used, specifically those used from the saddle. I know the camera I typically use would have trouble focusing on the move. I know Fred and his "wonderful" pillion have snapped some really nice shots over the years. Like mentioned earlier in this thread, I too would like to carry a camera on a lanyard to capture some shots along the way and would like some suggestions. Maybe next time you post some pictures, can you confirm the equipment used?-Thanks
Canon Powershot A4000 on a lanyard - pretty much any of the Canon P&S cameras do quite well.

Couple of shots from NAFO a couple of weeks ago...

The camera is several year old Coolpix S9100 with many thousands of miles on it. This is the lanyard system I use which is retractable:

I use an old Canon A470. I have it set up to turn the screen off after 3 seconds. This lets me leave it turned on without it killing the battery. It wakes up from sleep mode in less than a half a second. I figure it's got close to 75,000 miles on it and it's yet to miss a beat. Takes good quality pics too.

You can see it in action in this pic

I would think that an actual camera would be a better choice than any smart phone for shots taken while actually riding the bike.

Remember folks, that is what this thread is about. Not shots taken of your bike, next to your bike, or places you've ridden on your bike.

If we start one of those threads I have literally thousands of saved pictures of higher quality than what we take while on the move.

Steve,

Do you keep the camera set up in a full "automatic" mode? I know when I have tried to my Samsung SL35, it is constantly trying to focus and most pictures end up blurry/out of focus.

Full auto. This camera focuses extremely quickly. Under a $100 everywhere last I saw.

I tried to take photos while riding on my Kali trip a few years back...

after a couple bad photos, I decided for safety reasons I just wouldn't try to learn to do that.

BTW, Jumping rope and gum chewing at the same time is dangerous.
