We are staying at the Inn at Sunset Cliffs near OB but I think we will have breakfast somewhere close to the motel. Hope to get to the dealer before 10AM to do whatever paperwork is involved and be ready to roll. Sounds like a great group, looking forward to the ride.

Have a great ride Bill. I know you will especially with the tour guides. Just don't let them slow you down. Just plain fantastic mountain roads. Better than we have here.

My January ride to do some of those roads with a map: Escape from the Snow:

How about the 'Crest' Cafe'? Cool little place I go to a lot when in San Diego. Might not be good for a 'large' group however, depending on how many are going to come.
Whoa, does anyone on FJR Forum want to place a bet on the sexual orientation of 'Crest' Cafe if it is Skoot's favorite place??

Probably has copies of 'The Advocate' magazine in the waiting area and a Gay Pride Rainbow banner over the freaking door!

Actually, according to their webpage, they are located in the middle of the Hillcrest area. I think you can count on a few rainbow banners....

Yup!

I figured it would be the perfect spot for beemerdons as he could 'socialize' with some of his 'Y...M...C....A...' brothers!

Neil San Diego: I was just on the phone with "The Silly Squirrel" a few minutes ago, we Stanley's had an extra ticket for the Angels-D'Backs MLB Spring Training game this afternoon; Skoot's planning on stalking "Scottsdale Cougars' this afternoon.

It figures that this Hillcrest area would be loaded with Gay Caballeros! Now that I have retired from Metro Mechanical he keeps saying we should go on the NorCal Rides. Says madmike2 can arrange breakfast for us in the "Castro Gulch" area??

My wife took me to eat there shortly after we were married and we were the only hetrosexual couple in the entire place. Come to think of it, now thats why Skooter looked so familiar when I met him.....

Hey, why all the super slab when you don't have to. How about dropping down the 163 to the 805 then catching Telegraph Canyon over through Otay Lakes and then tie into Campo Road later down the line. Good roads and less congestion than going through the Rancho San Diego area and Jamul. Coming into RSD on 94 gets congested before the turn onto Campo Road and then also when you are entering the area around Jamul. Just a thought and it doesn't add that much more riding to it but puts you off the slab a bit more.

Also, coming into Julian would be a little more fun if you stayed on the Great Overland Stage road then tied in on the 78 through Banner Grade then into Julian that way. Coming out of Julian, instead of turning left, you go straight and tie into Wynola Home Road and more twisty fun then catch the 78/79 again at Wynola. Just some food for thought.

I may be joining you all depending on how my Monday goes. I need a day to play hookey from all this budget and spend plan crap at work.

OK, I made into town last night. 12 hours on the road from Cloverdale, and an hours worth of "rest" on the LA freeways. Never did see a wreck, stalled car, or a chicken crossing the road. Wish I had those PR 2's on now, I will be ready for rubber when I get back, hopefully not before then. Looking forward to the ride. I see the weather should be in the 80's in the desert, perfect.
