Sidestand and heat

Greetings all,

This being my first summer with my FJR, I am wondering how fast the sidstand goes through the asphalt when the temps get over 100? My C-10, would put a hole in the asphalt pretty quick after 100 degrees, so I had to either centerstand her or look for cement or find something to put the sidstand on.

Lookie here, and here, some more, or else you could find an old BMW roundell or even smash a soda or beer can. Just get something to displace the weight from the small point of contact of the kickstand pad.

Just make sure you always have a cold beer handy. You will enjoy it in the heat and the empty works well under the stand. Just don't make to many stops cause a beer at each stop could be trouble.

To the original question, yes it'll go through hot asphalt PDQ.

But heck with waiting for Friday -

Less than a buck, find it in any hardware store, fits in the storage box.

Yes it will sink in quite well. (Alan you're quicker than me!)

Some carry the steel cover plate from a 4"x4" electrical junction box with a string on it draped over the bars so you don't forget it and it's easier to retrieve once you're on the seat.

Come to NAFO. The Yamaha rep's will likely provide you with a nice Yamaha pad for that side stand if you ask nicely.

Lots o great ideas, I will p/u a junction box for now and check out skyway's site.
