Let me know if you find the installation instructions easy to follow.
I've read through em a couple times now, and everything seems perfectly clear to me. The bite valve is slick!! I don't know where I'm gonna mount the magnet base yet, so we'll see.

BTW, the bank said that the money order cleared on Jan. 12, so i guess we're golden. You really did a great job on this thing, so hat's off.

Awesome news on the money order!! The bite valve is pretty darn slick huh, that's what I thought as soon as I tested it, and I think the magnet should be plenty strong to hold in the wind, even at warp speed.

Good news on the instructions, I hoping nobody dicks up the installation.

Got the Hydration System and once again Ian did well and the instructions were straight forward. Quality. I really hate to mount the drink base on the bike though as I don't want to scratch up such a beautiful piece. lol. Just a thought on mounting the bite valve, if one doesn't want to use the magnet supplied, I've heard of some LDR folks using a velcro type loop on say the tank bag. Just a thought. Thanks again Ian. <>< :fan_1:

Actually, no rush.... it's way too cold to work out in the barn anyway (ok, it's just a huge garage).... like about 5F right now!

Please send some nice warm Cali weather alone with the hardware... anything 50F or above is ok! B)

Thanks

Mary

I use one of those badge retractor thing. Hooks on to the front of the fuel cell and I just grab it with the left hand and pull it up and let it go when I am done and it retracts back and hold on good.

This new bite valve negates the use of the retractable key chain, though you will need to place the bite valve vs. letting it go.

Ian, by some miracle of God I received my bag today regardless of the fact that there was no suite # on the address. Now, that is some real workmanship. Very, very niceeee new goodies!

I am thinking that I must be pretty thick as compared to the others. I've read over the same part of the directions again & again. I've been looking at this part for awhile & cannot figure out how it goes. I'm having a problem attaching the side clips to the base so that the jug is attached. I looked at the pictures on your group buy site & it looks like there is some sewing of the straps going on there. My clips have nothing sewed.

If you could please PM me a closeup picture or give me some verbal directions, I'd surely appreciate it. Again, thank you. This is great workmanship.

My faith in USPS has been restored!! :yahoo:

No worries Heidi, somehow the right instructions will point you in the right direction. I tried to cover everything, but in fact its a lot easier to see in a photo than to describe. Once you see how this goes together, you'll be able to throw away the directions.

Did you remove the rubber portion of the rear passenger footpeg yet? Once you do, it should become clear as to how it mounts.

I will post pictures of the loop attachment and the base mounted to the footpeg tomorrow. Failing this, PM me a phone# and I'll walk you through it.

Thanks for the compliments and I'm glad you like it.

Does anyone know & is willing to share their experience...

Is there a secret to getting the drinking tube thru the neoprene sleeve? I tried pushing it through this morning & got the plastic tubing about 6" into the sleeve & couldn't get it any further. I'm pretty sure that isn't far enough. lol! My only experience w/ neoprene is covering the outside of my beer bottle.

I have the clear anodized bases back at my shop and will pack them up this evening. You guys who chose this option are in for real treat as the pieces look absolutely stunning, I'm very happy with the results. :dribble:

Heck, I may even put one on my own bike!!

Ian,

I've hit a bit of a snag and won't be able to leave town until about 3:45, which should put me up there closer to 6:00pm.

Same meet location, I presume? I'll call when I depart.

Which would have made a great PM.

I have seen several guys having trouble threading the cover over the tubing. I tryed several ways and this is the one that work. After you have the hard tubing cut to the right size( I heated mine with a heatgun to make it strait) insert the double barb adapter. Now slide on the soft tubing.. Next I put some warm soapy water in my sink and soaked the cover for a few minutes. Then starting with the stiff tubing thread it into the cover. This will take a few minutes, slide a few inches and work it down the soft tubing.

I now have all the powder coated bases back from Finish First and will package up the remainder of this GB this evening to ship out tomorrow.

Bob has done a FANTASTIC job on this, which you guys who ordered this option will soon see. Suweet. :dribble:

Is the general consensus on going from passenger footpegs to Hydration system that it's easier to just buy a new footpeg and swap them out when you want to change your running mode?

1 bolt vs 1 bolt and 2 screws? The math says: Get an extra foot peg. The pocketbook may not agree with that math, tho.

Groo, its only 2 fasteners and is really fast to switch between the base and rubber base. I would say because of the easy to loose small components that reside in the passenger footpeg, that I would rather leave that alone and use the fasteners I ship with each kit. YMMV.

What's a footpeg cost these days?
I bet SkooterG could recall most FJR part prices right off the top of his head. Gary McCoy ain't never been so busy. :D

Hi Ian,

The postman just dropped off my hydration system, and I'd just like to thank you for making available such a fine piece as this. The clear anodize looks incredible and the bag is first rate. I'm looking forward to putting it to good use this year. Again, thanks for all your efforts in making our beloved FJR even better! :clapping:
