Smitty, the GB is scheduled until the 25th. In the meantime I hope to get as many bags sewn as payments I receive. I cannot order the material for the bases until the GB ends, else I'll get creamed on pricing. I have scheduled time to cut them up as soon as the material can be ordered and delivered to my shop after the 25th.

From that point on, there will also be a little extra time needed for anodize or powdercoat (if you went this way). If not it will ship out immediately to you.

Lets say that around the middle of January, I want this to be winding down.

Then, hopefully it's onto the Fuel Cell GB. B)

Well I paid, maybe too much but its done. Great job Skyway and all of Santa's helpers. So were is the thing, I looked on my front porch, no hydro???? :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

As with anything in life you have a choice to not participate, I'm not holding a gun to you or anyone else. I challenge you to go develop a low volume custom product such as this, and once it's complete and you see what it actually costs to produce, come back and I'll gladly re-hash the subject of pricing.

You may have read this before in some of my other posts, but if not, let me repeat it here for you. I make far, far less doing this FJR M/C stuff than I do with my regular clients. In fact I take a huge loss in $$$, time and energy compared to what I normally produce at my shop for my regular clients. The reward for me in this is not $$$, but knowing that people want something I made, and will add it to something as personal to them as their motorcycle. This is what drives me to do this and nothing else.

As I always remind my clients, we're not making burritos here. You think this stuff flies out of a microwave oven? If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it!

There will be none of this on this Group Buy!

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and interpret this as a joke, but I've been on this board long enough to see the euphoria of a Group Buy then turn into one or two folks getting bitchy and impatient.

Please don't become one of these people.

It's possible that lucky meant that he had paid more than was required by the GB terms, not that he thinks the item was overpriced...

Ian, I have a question...

When I filled out the form, I input the bottom portion with a color of black, and the top with blue. Will that make it look like the picture you have with 2 materials (except that your main material was grey)? I was a bit confused about that... whether it will be the entire top that's blue, or just the edging. I was aiming for just the edging, but now I'm not 100% convinced I got it right.

If you choose 2 colors for the outer bag, only the edging around the top will be the second color as shown in this photo.

Did you not read the wording on the "options" page?

Here, I bolded the germane words:

Bag Fabric Colors: As seen below, the fabric color options are (from top to bottom): red, yellow, orange, silver/grey, blue, all lying on the final color option, a charcoal-black. There is no additional charge for any material colors. The fabric is a very tough 1000-denier cordura.
The photo above shows a combination of 2 colors, the silver/grey with a blue band around the top. The bags can be be sewn either as a single solid color, or they can be a combination of any of the 2 colors mentioned above, with the band being the second color. All this is at no extra charge.

Since that's what mine will look like when done, why don't I just mosey on up and get that one, then you can make mine for you? That should provide all the motivation you need to get this thing going ASAP, along with the option of changing colors if you want.

You gotta get up earlier in the a.m. around here Bob. In fact you were beaten to this by almost a week! It is now hopefully residing in someone elses hands for fit checking of another M/C.

Also the base which is in the photo's was only ever meant to used for prototyping and does not resemble the quality of the finished product. That piece will eventually end up on the wall of shame at my shop. :D

Good point, I may have misinterpreted his statement.

As of this morining, it now looks like 36 have signed up. :clapping:

Before the GB ends, I will try to get some photo's up of the various color combinations that you have requested.

Thanks again to all those who have signed up. B)

Will it be first to pay...first to ship??? :)

So far I have received quite a lot of payments, so these people will get in line for the sewing side first. Once the GB date ends, if all payments are not received within a short period, I will not hold it up for everyone else. Unfortunately they may have to sit this one out.

The final numbers will determine how much material I order for machining the bases and this can only be done at one time to keep the price down.
