Based on reviews from this terrific forum, I purchased the V-Stream windshield. I installed it last night, rode the bike to work this morning and WOW! If you are considering replacing your windshield - or maybe even if you haven't considered it - I strongly endorse this product (I know, after only 18 miles - but 16 of them were at a good clip!). It was truly amazing. The most noticeable difference was in noise level. It was actually quiet and there was almost zero buffeting.

No affiliation with the company - just a happy customer. :clapping:

Ditto that! and the sound you do get comming from the engine is a sweet low throaty rumble! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: without any wind noise!

Same here! I consider my V-Stream, along with the PC-III and Bill Mayer Saddle to be one of the best improvements to my FJR.

I got my V-Stream before I did a lot of riding on my 05. I wasn't use to the orginal windshield when I installed the V-Stream. After ridding this summer I wasn't happy with the V-Stream in the Summers' heat becasue there was no airflow around my body. So I re-installed the factory windshield. I can't ride with the factory windshield in the down position because wind is directed right in my face but I do get airflow. I think I will use the factory windshield in the summer and the V-Stream in the cooler weather. It's nice having a choice.

I have a first gen V Stream on mine and without earplugs the sound is not a throaty rumble, with the screen in just the right spot it sounds like a continous scream, a higher pitched wail, an incredible sound of turning metal, in short - sort of what you would hear if you put your ear near the valve cover. That being said I kind of like the sound, when Mortorcyclist Mag recently did a comparison test of the BMW RT, ST1300, FJR and the new Concours they described the sound of the ST1300 as something like a 'signature outboard motor from hell', well I don't really know what they meant not having ever driven an ST, but that is a good description of how my FJR sounds, but only with the V stream tuned to pick it up.

I think throaty rumbles are way over rated

I've searched around a bit but can't seem to find a very good deal on them. Where did you purchase yours?
I searched for a while and finally found a good deal here. Shipping was pretty quick.

I am another that uses the V-Stream in the cooler weather, and the stocker in the heat.

A timely posting. I just got through running 150 miles and my ears were ringing (literally, still are in fact). I was logging in to find which windshield would help and this thread was front and center. Awesome. I just ordered off the link above and can't wait to test it out. I do imagine I will swap the old one in during the heat of summer and wear ear plugs.

Need to try a different helmet.

VStream windshield

I got mine on E-Bay. Here's a link to one, buy it now price 149.89 plus $12.94 shipping:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Yamaha-...sspagenameZWDVW

If you keep an eye out you can sometimes find a better prize. I think I paid 135.00 which included shipping.

In the search window type in FJR and you will find all kind of stuff you just can't live without. It's an addiction...

I have a Cee Bailey +4+4 in a box somewhere, but cannot find it since I moved from AZ to FL. It worked well but looks like a barn door.

I have been thinking of buying the VStream for awhile now and this posting pushed me over the fence... I placed my order today, let's see how well it works when I get it.

Thank's for the posting, and the link.

The V-stream is'nt as sporty as the stocker, it will take a little while to get used to how your bike looks with it on sitting in the parking lot, But the ride improvement is worth it.

how difficult is it to switch back and forth? Looks simple enough from the pics, but I thought I'd ask...

The switch-out was very easy - fifteen minutes at best. And, per the earlier post, I just got mine direct from National Cycle (or whoever the manufacturer is?).

I rode about 100 miles this afternoon and continue to be blown away by this product (no pun intended). I do agree that, when it's hot, you don't get as much cooling effect. But it is absolutely worth it to me. I rode without earplugs and it was a joy. I can even ride with my face shield full up while at highway speeds no problem.

Loving it. Thanks to the forum for all the info.

I just ordered a Vstream yesterday, along with frame sliders and throttlemeister. That way when I get home in November, they'll all be waiting on me. I'll post my experience them.
