So where do YOU park in public lots?

I used to park in the hash marks at the end of a row. They were convenient, safe places and I didn't use up a regular spot. Those are all gone now, replaced by patches of well trampled lawn surrounded by a curb. So, now I use a car space. I use the whole thing, and park far enough back that the bike is easily seen by people looking down the row for an empty spot. I would never park in or near a handicap spot.

There's a difference between hashed lines that are needed for wheelchair access and hashed lines that simply indicate a spot is too small for a car. The latter is perfectly good for motorcycles while the former should never be parked on.

More often than not I just park in actual parking spaces, but when circumstances permit I'll go to a hashed area unfit for cars, and when going to certain large stores like Best Buy or Fry's I just park on the wide sidewalk near the front entrance, where Geek Squad cars sometimes park or, in the case of Fry's, by the loading platforms.

Having a child that must use a walker on good days to get around and a wheelchair on those other days, please just don't in or around the hash marks or spaces. Just be thankful that one can walk those extra few feet. I think anyone of the people who rightly has a placard would be more than happy to trade conditions (you take my child's CP and she'll take your ability to walk).
